Default Multiplayer character list lag

Not sure if it's worth reporting since it'll be so rare, but now that I have like 50+ characters, I am getting lag and crashes on the "Join Multiplayer" screen, where all the lobby rooms are listed and your list of characters shows up in the bottom right with 3d models.

I suspect this is happening because the game is trying to render all my characters at once in the bottom right. An option to toggle the 3d models on your characters off might help, or just optimization.

The reason I suspect this is the case is 1: This wasn't happening when I had very few characteres, 2: it got worse the more characters I made, 3: After a while if I don't get a crash the FPS stabilizes and everything is fine... which I assume is because all my characters finished rendering alright.

Ok now it crashes very often after clicking "join multiplayer". I think I was incorrect about it trying to render them all at once, because now that it's so laggy before it crashes I can see the characters appearing in the list one at a time slowly. I'm at 60ish chars. Now I notice sometimes it crashes upon leaving a screen and returning to the main menu.

How does it work if you remove about 30+ chars to a different folder and try?

I have over 60 now, so removing half does two things:
No more crash in join multiplayer. Still a bit of lag while characters load.

Characters in main menu page (the very first screen) now show up immediately. When I was at 60+, a highlighted character wouldn't show up for a while. I heard from a friend that at 70+ characters the main menu screen breaks too.

So yeah I'm aware of the workaround of partitioning my characters but it isn't ideal or pleasant. And there's still some lag with 30 upon clicking join multiplayer. An option to toggle off their 3d renders in the bottom right of the join multiplayer screen would likely solve this and be appreciated.

Updated with crash report attached to this post. Reason I didn't do so earlier is because generally I have to ctrl+alt+delete when it freezes at the join multiplayer screen, so I figured it invalidated the report. This time it just straight crashed.
