Well, first, like many people already said, it's kinda hard to judge the difficulty with only one act, and one difficulty level we've got now. And not so much build experience.

From first release to now difficulty of act 1 was toned down, as I feel it. My Soldier guy died once, to cultist in Depraved Sanctuary, they were bigger level, and I went in too early . That was the only death so far, for about 50 hours played. But yeah, that's only a little piece of the game, few builds, etc.

Second, I hope that ramping up the difficulty doesn't mean we will be kiting every group of trash mobs, cause there will be no trash mobs anymore, and running through the game will change to running back and forth through the game, trying to stay alive

I feel that it should be done more subtle, like, we already have a special monsters, Fury, Ice Zombies, Berserkers, Abominations, etc — maybe give them some chance to spawn as a group, of say, 8 Furies, or 5 Abominations, or something like that. Not too big chance, though, so we don't fight them constantly, just enough to keep players on their toes. Add more heroes. Give them some escort. Work with difficulty spikes (in a good way), not ramp up everyone's badassness.

And thirdly, yeah, I think that if guys miss up with a difficulty a little, modders will always be there to help (Underlord and Soulvisier come to mind), so that's not a first priority anyway

With that things in mind, I voted for first variant, Grim Dawn is ok for now as it is.

If I could have voted grimmerer 100 times i would. I remember the first time I saw a mutant thrasher/butcher coming at me I was extra cautious but still basically face tanked it, in the vid I was seriously concerned you were going to bite it. And that beholder mesmer was a beast!

Seriously, how can I get my hands on that mod or whatever it is? Talk about playing HC on this level of difficulty, insane, I would do it for sure.

I played TQ through a number of times. I usually don't play betas but have played half of GD act 1.

I think GD has good progression of story and skills, and only a low chance of dying, which is how Act 1 should be.

I find long fights pointless; I play for story, exploration, and testing new skills. I don't want to spend my hour in the evening clicking the same mobs I clicked last night.

But do whatever you want to the harder difficulty levels. If someone wants to play hard, they should get hard, but still fun and achievable.

I voted standard, even if I wouldn't mind an increased challenge.

I did so because we can play only one act on normal as of now, and in my opinion the first difficulty should allow some room for experimenting with strange or not so efficient builds, having some fun killing monsters and enjoing the story. I feel that if the game is already difficul at the start it will become pretty frustrating very fast for the players who haven't the necessary patience or commitment.

That said I would like to see a substantial but progressive difficulty increase in epic and legendary, so it will be possible for the more dedicated players to challenge the viability of their builds and test their skills.

Last but not least Grim Dawn will be fully moddable so player that won't be satisfied with the standard difficulty of the game will surely find a mod suitable to their needs.

Harder please. I'm so tired of these super easy JRPGs that the market is filled with. Diablo 3 I have to play the game 3 times before it gets difficult. Torchlight 2 is way too easymode.

Please please make an RPG that's actually difficult and that you don't have to become a vegetable to actually enjoy. Thank you.

I think it's good as Act I for Normal. It's easy for me...now. But as an introduction to the game for new people...so far so good.

One other thing is that the area that you go into for the video in Grimmer Dawn has you fighting enemies on par or below your level in which case it's usually 1-5 levels above your character level.

Better example would be the first quest Burial Hill in which case I was hoping to try a pure Canister Bomb skill build which resulted in me having no skills but having a higher amount of points into the skill mastery itself. Burial Hill in Grimmer Dawn mod proved to be impossible for me to even gain purchase in the entrance of the cave. Instead I had to farm Wightmire awhile until I got Canister Bomb and went back for the quest and my vengeance.

Again I'll say that the difficulty now is alright in that it starts out relatively easy and has it's moments later on when it comes to difficulty. TQ had Normal generally be more challenging then the other difficulties. I hope GD will reverse that and make the difficulties just that: difficult.

Ok.I checked it out and I've polled my opinion.

I went with the standard difficulty because regardless of how easy (or hard) I may feel it is,especially in alpha,there's a lot of development time still left to come.Maybe the devs will make it slightly harder,maybe they won't.

I'm not overly fussed if the difficulty isn't ground breakingly challenging in normal difficulty so long as it ramps up significantly in the following tiers.

I mean,if I could forget everything from the last 30 years of playing similar games,then the difficulty may very well be challenging as is.So yeah,I think it's ok,normal should be an enjoyable learning curve for newbies to the genre and just a sampler for vets.

Just my opinion and we all have an opinion like we all have an ... well you know what. =p

there are a lot of people including myself that have the mentality "if i am not having fun within the first 5 minutes, then i will uninstall and never play it ever again"

I work 2 jobs, when we come home i want to relax and have FUN, not work another job,

i played WoW as a rouge up until level 14 when it first came out, my reaction was "wtf is the object of the game?, so i uninstalled it and never played it again" and told all of my friends don't bother with WoW, all because the first hour/5 minutes sucked for me
