I love the concept behind L4D but i never got to play the first one, anyone playing the first at all anymore? Its only like $14 for the first and $20 for the second. Im tempted but i dont want to be forced to plays Singleplayer all the time... and those big fast SOB's always killed me so solo with Ai seems retarded.
personally ive never really played an online game, im a singleplayer gamer and have been all my life. But the the free trail years ago for L4D was fun when there were people. So i guess im asking if anyone knows if there is still a population out there gaming on L4D and is it worth the extra $14 to see.

I'm sorry, but I can't help you when it comes to L4D's multiplayer.
I am a single-player person myself, & have always played L4D solo. As much as both L4D & L4D2 are the same, they are different in a few areas. For one thing, the environments seem a little different. You are fighting mostly at night or at dusk which gives the game a more creepy atmosphere. And of course the playable characters are different as well. There isn't as much gore though, as it was really upped for the sequel. Still, you can dismember zombies, but there aren't as many variations. Still, I would still recommend it if you like the premise & gameplay and want to play as different characters & in different environments. It pretty much is the same game, just substitute environments & characters. |

I should also point out that it is my opinion that the computer controlled ai helpers are a bit more helpfull in the first one. They just seem to always stick close and lend a hand when you need it. I also died quite a bit on the sequel because the cmptr controlled allies were often doing other stuff and would often let me get mauled by an enemy.
But that is just my opinion, and don't know if others have the same reactions..? BTW There is also another similar type game called "Killing Floor", that is an older game with dated graphics, but very similar concept. It has some unique zombie models, but other than that L4D is much better. Just thought I would mention it. Also, you are stuck in one area at a time and has fewer areas, but still has some redeeming qualities. You are also basically just stuck in one arena like area after another and have to take on wave after wave of enemies until you fight the wierd looking boss (think zombie like experiment with some tenticles & a rocket launcher & gatling gun). There are also no cross-hairs, so you have to aim down the sights if you want to make an accurate shot, which is kinda cool. It can be fun at times, dull other times, & laughable other times still. Another BTW
While I don't have L4D 2 for the PC yet (have both for XB 360), I do have L4D for the PC. If you get it for the PC we could arrange a time that we could meet on-line & I would play with you. Just give me a heads up, or I will do the same, but I don't know when that would be since school & work keep me busy for long hours on end. But if we can manage to find some time then I would play with you.

Here is one video review of killing Floor (if you are interested).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcCzv...eature=related I don't know what the guy has in his water, but he brings up most relevant things. Here is another. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Caf5XmocKBY This one shows more game-play, and also makes good relative commentary about the game. |

L4D has been on sales for 7.50 for several times I think. Not really worth getting it if you have L4D2 I assume, you could wait for another 7.50 offer...
It just seems that L4D2 is a cheap add-on that was released as a completely new game. But it has the newer features, so... |

For $7.50 (or even $10.00), why not buy it ?
Sure, it's just more of the same, but you do get 4 completely different playable characters, and different environments. BTW I read somewhere that the Devs at Valve intentionally made L4D2 a little harder than the original, because some people complained that it wasn't hard enough. (whatever)

Valve made L4D2 is harder than L4D1?
I honestly thought they had made it easier, I had to turn the diff up in order for it to be challenging, but then I have also been playing a hell of a lot of S.T.A.L.K.E.R lately so that could account for why it feels so forgiving.

It's from the same Dev team that did STALKER:soc. Its pretty good with great atmosphere, but is strictly a single player game. |
