Thumbs Down

To me Devil's crossing sounds better.I vote Devil's crossing

It sounds better to say the town of Devil's Crossing rather then the town of Devil's Crossroads or Devil's Fork. Not like it really matters i guess, but Devil's crossing sounds more believable that it could be the name of a real town to me.

I'm a little late to the party, but what about just "Devil's Cross"? It's easy to say and I think it sounds like the perfect place to ward off evil.

Default Sounds Like An Excellent Idea

The more nodes that have branches in the world the better. I've always enjoyed games that required specific equipment, skill, or knowledge necessary to move on into other areas of the game world. This gives the game a sense of challenging obstacles that are meaningful in that you simply bypassed them or overcame some entitys evil/warding intentions. Keep up the good work!

For some odd reason this topic makes me think how cool it would be to have a little run down shack of our own, to store things and possibly collect trophies (boss heads, hands, horns, other body appendages).
And as you complete more of the story & quests your shack goes from ruins to repaired humble abode.
I don't know why, but it just sounds appealing to me.
I guess all the excitement will do that.

Could be a neat twist on the caravan idea, instead of a traveling trader have a quick shortcut you can use to teleport to say your beginning town (Devil's Crossroads?) where you eventually get all the NPCs as well as a little shack of your own with a chest/stash located there. Could leave it open to add other things later on as well.
This is kind of old and not addressed in a while, but I am in support of buying a crappy burned out shack at the very beginning and then as you do quests and your fame and renown increases you can buy upgrades and fixes to your house until you're living in a pimped out pad while everyone else around lives in squalor. Hey, you're saving the world, you need some creature comforts.

On that note, are we having one beginning town? Or multiple town hubs? Or are we going to have a caravan and recruit hangers on (blacksmith, wizard merchant, fortune teller, juggling clowns etc.)

Hmmm... that actually sounds like a good idea for a stretch goal on the Kickstarter Project, since it will cost money to implement the assets for creating an upgradeable abode.

This thread's title is Starting Town - Devil's Crossroads Crossing

It's too late but I would have gone with Crossroads. Just so there could be a NPC, at the crossroads, carrying a guitar and named "R. Johnson". ^_^
