Default Item or just Easter egg idea

A reference to Stephen Kings Dark tower series would be awesome, since it too is partially set in a post apocalyptic western type setting.
Specifically the main character Roland, needs an item. I think the Guns of Duschain or Eld would be awesome, since those are his guns and they were forged from Excalibur(i think).
There would be lots of ideas in that series for items, maybe even just great inspiration for the dev team in general.

Wuh, another interest we share, it seems.

I would love to see Roland's guns in the game as an end-game set of just the two pistols, a la the Texan set in Titan Quest. I would create a character just for using them. Or they could take it a step further and make a larger gear set based on the Gunslinger (boots, hat, guns, pendant...) In fact any reference to the series within Grim Dawn would make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. If this doesn't make it into Grim Dawn you can be sure I'll be bringing it up again when they're making the expansion... and the one after that if that's what it takes.

BTW, yes the guns of Deschain were reforged from the melted steel of Excalibur, or at least it's strongly suggested. I believe Arthur Eld is the Mid-World stand in for King Arthur.

I also wouldn't really be in favor of pop culture references as I think that detracts from the immersion of the game. I like to keep "easter-egg" type stuff humorous but subtle and relevant to the game itself. I think the Overlord in TQ is a good example of the type of thing that I think works.
From please add tq references to gd ... the first paragraph might even apply to any other product. And somehow related: Immersion - might interest you, too.

Hm, I suppose that legality could be an issue in something like this. It wouldn't take much to be a reference while still remaining vague. "Gunslinger's set" would work; gunslinger is just a term, after all, and a 'gunslinger type' would be an easily believable character in the world of Grim Dawn.

But I guess it's best to just not take chances with this sort of thing.

Why not a full Gunslinger class too? If done well it could synergize perfectly with the Demolition mastery and create an all-round badass (with the class name "Desperado")

Larger, more well-orchestrated things like the secret Overlord dungeon in TQIT are group efforts that the studio knows about and lets the team put in, assuming it isn't interfering with getting the game done.
behold what I found
