Over-the-top hate on Assassin's Creed III

I'm with Asylum on this one. I have no hate toward Assassin's Creed, just apathy. I don't see the problem with the setting either, I mean the series has jumped around to different time periods before. Plus the Freemasons were supposedly related to or descendant of the Knights Templar, if you believe such things, so I would think it would still tie in with the other games... I think. I'm not going to profess an in depth knowledge of the story and/or timeline of the series.

Sounds just like when (I believe it was call of duty somebody correct me if i am wrong) a certain game studio had to change the name of the enemy in their game from taliban to "opposing force". I'm sorry but that would be like saying oh you cant call them nazi's in your game even though thats what they are. If your recreating history in a game there's nothing wrong with that. However this being said most of the people that were getting butt hurt about this fiasco were people who were saying "well how will the troops feel?". Well guess what (I'm a former active duty US Marine) here's exactly what we think. Hell yeah! we'll kill some taliban in our video games. People these days seem to eager to speak on behalf of a group of people they don't belong to and tell people how they feel and its complete bull*$#!. Also at the op no worries about the rant i know exactly what your talking about.

TLDR
1. Get thicker skin
2. Speak only for your own opinion not others

I didn't know they had to change the name to opposing force from "Taliban"... that just shows how quick people are to judge and condemn I guess. Heh, their loss if they don't play a game because of something stupid like that anyway And I salute you for your time in the marines, sir!

i personally am tired of the AC universe..
First game was heck of alot of fun, but now it just became more and more repetitive, and no i don't consider jumping higher when climbing to be a mechanic that can make it diffrent, nor the parachute, you never use it anyway.

I see why you think that, the last 3 games have all had the same setting just with different "themes" and it's all the same buildings. But AC3 looks really good, you now climb trees instead of buildings all the time (better to ambush targets) and it's more of a wilderness environment, check this video out to see what I mean
Though this thread was about the (unneccesary) hate on AC3's setting, I'm always up to talk about the AC universe, the story is one of the most compelling in any game series I've ever played (game stories seem to be less of a factor in games nowadays in favour of gameplay imo )

Assasins Creed has always been a game that is more fun for me to watch, then for me to play. I think the over thought control system, hinders a fast and furious gameplay, which is what I was expecting anyway. Or maybe I was just not patient enough to get it down.

As for the Anti-American sentiment, theres hate all over the world. Every country has done things that are unscrupulous and anti-human, but as long as I get to continue eating my chemically induced fast food and rip on my gas guzzling SUV, I will ALWAYS be proud to be an American.
