Forgive me I don't know all the ins and outs regarding this topic and also for the lame part to my idea but I was wondering if it may hold any merit.
The illegal markets make a lot money selling items to other players as a 3rd party. What if you Grim Dawn eliminates transferring anything between players on separate accounts? And don't have an Auction House. That is lame part that I spoke of. People not being able to sell loot or buy loot off others but that way players could focus more on drops. Drops is something apparently lacking in other games and forces players to look to the merchants if they want to be competitive. Again, I apologize for possibly sounding silly here. I don't know a lot of other games, how they're set up or any other posts others may have written. There could be fundamental flaws in my idea that I am just too one-track minded to see. |

Not being able to transfer items between accounts would immediatly kill any coop play. Won t happen. I don t think there was a lot of 3rd party trading on TQ (at leats for real money) And i also think Crate should not care about this.
If people want to spend money for pixels, they are free. If a player has been scammed during a transaction, it s his fault and should not whine to Crate. I was thinking last day with some friend while speaking about how horrible is the D3 AH, what a cool AH could be. I imagine an AH, where you can t put any item for more than 1 gold. It would be more of a server wide item donation. In game merchants wouldn t give you money for items more than 1 gold too, so everyone would be ready to give away. |

I don't think this discussion makes any sense for GD.
Not having dedicated, secured servers, the games run on the PC of the host, and the character files are stored on each players own PC - both being more or less open for the tinkering. You can always dupe any item by simply copying your save-game, you can always use a hack or level-editor to get your hands on any item you'd possibly want. No one is ever going to buy any item for real money, if there are no secured servers. In fact, if you want your character to stay legit, you can't trade with anyone who you don't trust at all. So even the idea of an in-game money AH makes no real sense for GD. |

Yeah, I'm not seeing how this could even potentially be an issue at all. There's literally no incentive at all to buy anything in any way.
And if there were, I know one person that would be churning out SOJs like mad.

There has to be a very well working dedicated server. That would make this game a lot more interesting, because playing with lag is just horrible and not being able to setup the server correctly is even worse. In general I would love this game to have many configurations and keybinding options, not like every other new game. Thanks.

You should be able to trade items with anyone you want. If you take that away, you may as well take co-op play away to prevent item trading.
I don't think buying items from others even existed in TQ really (I certainly never saw anything like that, and I did trade items with others), so your precaution for something which is highly unlikely to happen is very draconian. |
