Cool Missed the Boat/Need Update/Tex Murphy KS

Hey Peeps! Just a little background as I have been following Grim Dawn since the website first came up. As an avid Titan Quest fan, I was thrilled to see Grim Dawn was being developed!

I didn't check the site for several months but got introduced to Kickstarter via the Tex Murphy (Project Fedora - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...project-fedora) --

After discovering this, I also discovered that Grim Dawn had a Kickstarter that I missed! Man, that sucks. So, since I missed all that boat, can someone give me a summary on:

* Development status
* Release/Beta window
* How I can contribute/help/get rewards

Thanks so much in advance

Hey, welcome aboard.

Progress Update
That thread was from before the Kickstarter, but I think it's still up-to-date, except that Zantai is now on-board as well.

Update #17: What happens next?: When will the alpha / beta be ready?!
Our current estimate is that alpha may be ready by the end of this year or early next year. We're working our hardest to make this happen as soon as possible but we need to produce a certain amount of continuous, playable content and complete certain technical tasks before this can happen.

We expect beta to follow 4-6 months after alpha and then estimate August 2013 for the full release.

Hi, hopefully the Ice Princess will appear later and provide the exact information you are searching for, but until then...

The game is still in a pre-alpha state and most of the relevant information is available here http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6

The alpha version is expected to be available towards the end of this year or early next year with beta following in approximately May 2013.

It is now possible to pre-order the game using the Buy Now option which provides almost all of the rewards offered during the Kickstarter campaign http://www.grimdawn.com/contribute_b...2.php>buy now<.

Edit to say: Snap!

You might find some interesting bits in the kickstarter updates (or on this website obviously, but it might be more condensed in the KS updates).

Dev status : game is in alpha and will be for some time before 'we' (i.e. people with alpha access) will see it. The estimate for that is late this / early next year.

Release is planned for August 2013, beta has to fall somewhere in between, so I'd say around April

You can check the buy now options, much of what was on offer during the KS is available there as well (except for co-op deals and tiers with a boxed game), the only thing missing is the KS exclusive medal your char would be wearing.

Wow! You are all very prompt and helpful.

As you can see, I joined back in Feb 2010. I can't believe time has flown so fast! Either way, congrats on the Kickstarter and I am sorry I missed it.

I will definitely keep an eye on things and I'll be choosing a pre-order tier ASAP!

Thanks for all you guys have done. One last question, are there plans for a full public demo?

No problem. Quite an old thread, but I have no reason to assume it's not relevant, so;

Beyond that, I'm not sure I believe in pre-release demos from a business perspective. As I said, they can take time away from development of the game at a critical stage and often they end up containing bugs that would be fixed in the polish / bug-testing phase before the real game's release.

I think that has too much potential to give a false negative impression of the game before release. I think it is best to release a demo following the release of the game to help convince hold-outs who haven't bought the game yet. That way, they're getting a demo built from a thoroughly bug-tested version of the game that wasn't rushed out the door.
