Default Difficulty levels...

I'm also confused as to why difficulty levels are not separate from gameplay through levels. I really like the way that torchlight 2 is handling this issue. I don't want to play the same boring content dozens of times (for Titanquest it could literally be dozens of times as there were that many class combos) just for the game to slowly ramp up in difficulty.

It's much better to just be able to change the difficulty from the onset and run through the game once (or maybe twice) instead of saying this game is three or four times as long, but you have to repeat the same thing three or four times.

Even diablo 2 has a way around this with the 8 player menu command. Diablo 3 has also solved this issue (in a less than optimal way), by making a character fully changeable at level 60. You'll only ever have to take a single wizard to max level to fully experience the wizard. That has a certain appeal also for casual/hard-core gamers (like myself who used to be hardcore but now have jobs and kids...).

You had to ‘slog’ through the first few difficulties in Diablo 2 before you could really get started, and once Diablo 3 is out for less than a month people will start to power-rush through the first difficulty which won’t be hard to do.

Edit: Of course I'm talking about online where /players 8 doesn't work.

For sure after 2 months it’ll be possible to have all five classes at nightmare or later with even a little ounce of effort.

Inferno is where the real difficulty starts anyway, though apparently nightmare will also be hard especially for those underestimating the difficulty.

Another negative point is for all the hardcore players, inferno is not made with hardcore characters in mind. They don't want us to beat inferno really, at least that's what I think. I'm guessing the inferno difficulty will light up the RMAH alot. It won't bother me though, I won't hit inferno that fast but hardcore players will be tested alot.

Once again, that is not true, were the ubers designed to be beaten by hardcore char?.. unless you had THE build and lifesteal build, forget the ubers, and forget most of hell end acts.. how is it any different from inferno..

Yet harcore eventually overcame them, they will beat them, eventually

'It was like that in d2' is not a good justification for a useless normal mode. I loved the game, but Diablo 2 has its share of bad design. I expect its sequel to build on its strengths and shore up its weaknesses.

As for hell vs inferno, only one of these has a RMAH tied to them, which is influencing blizzard's handling of the game. If you need X item to have a chance to defeat a boss, and the only reasonable way to obtain said item is through purchase, what do you do? Again, this is jaded conjecture, but it's also entirely possible.

my problem is not the fact that its like or not like D2, its assumptions that have no proof to back them up whatsoever

That's cool with me, it's why I've pointed out all my posts are conjecture. These conspiracy theories make enough sense to me that I won't blindly buy the game, but will wait to see other people's reactions after release. Honestly, I do want this game to be good.

My point is true though, Blizzard has stated that you are not going to be able to beat inferno with a hardcore character, you will due at least once. Its a bold statement to make and tough to believe but that's what they have said themselves. What do you think, is blizzard crazy to think that there is no way to beat inferno without one death at least?

If they think that then yes they're crazy. If it can be completed, it can be completed without dying.
