Default Hirelings?

For those who wanna play solo and such do you think you will make a npc that lets you hire up to say 5 npcs?
This would be great or at least A minimum of 1 hireling this way you can be greedy and get all the items and all the npc's would want is a little bit of the gold you pick up for their helping you.
I know I should have thrown this into my other thread but its a different idea that's why I made a new one!
I think this is a great idea and hope for it to be considered!

No, no hirelings. There is no need for them.

it would make the game too easy, besides, some classes like the occulitist have pets, hellhound and a raven, so a NPC would totally be overkill, and you will have a nice selection of classes anyway, so again a NPC would ruin the balance

As a matter of fact medierra is in favour of hirelings - so, they might be added in an expansion: #1 #2 #3

I think I must have missed that, as long as it doesn't damage the game blance, then fine

ok guys lets not get excited but I just threw it out there as an idea.
In guildwars you an have a pet and 4 npc's so not sure what the problem would be if the game rebalances it!

Oh no, please don't make them a mandatory part of the game! I can never get on with "group" RPG games like Balder's Gate, etc. I much prefer to have only the one toon to keep track of, I even struggle if I have more than two pets. Make it an option for those who would like to add members to make up a party by all means, but please don't make it compulsory to have them.

Again I'm sorry but having hirelings should be optional I wish I made this clear but wasn't thinking how much this idea would throw people into a little panic lol.
Don't get excited it should be optional lol!

Don't be sorry - it's good to post and discuss such stuff to get people's feedback and hear their suggestions and/or opinion. Given the current game system this would fit in best as "summoned pets" of a mastery. Alternatively a hireling could be equivalent to a hero monster or even a normal player character and the difficulty would be adjusted to a multiplayer game for 2 players. The former would give you the option to enable this through your build, the latter would require you to activate this during character creation or when you continue to play a character.

As long as the game scales accordingly I have no problem with having the option to have hirelings.
