The real kicker is that this is forced on Norway as well, but Norway has never been part of EU and have never used euros.
LOL? Has there been any objections to this?

Well, my country is not in EU aswell (but is the bridge between Europe and Asia), and we pay in dollars without VAT. Piracy is really high here, and if they change current currency from dollars to euros, and keep the same "numbers", they'll lose ALL of the customers, believe me.

There's been lots of protests actually. But in the end, Steam will go with what gives them the biggest profit. And they're definetely bastards for doing it, but they can get away with it. Besides, we had to pay VAT, so the price difference would only be 10% or so. Also, they haven't converted every price directly, just most of them I think.

This is one of the site that sprung from that whole debacle, I think; http://steamunpowered.eu/
I'm not sure if that site is even a protest anymore, *shrug*.

Steam is way too expensive except for their deals anyway.

Yeah, a big thread sprung up the same day it was introduced, and is still going. Valve has made no official comment on it, and the thread creator has been banned (but the thread still stands, though heavily moderated. I guess to funnel the rage rather than have new threads pop up).

And yeah VAT. Norway has no VAT for digital downloads, and steam is the only service I have ever seen that charges me VAT, and they won't tell you where that extra money goes - even though it's kinda obviously into their pockets.
I tried mailing them about it, but just got a pasted response about what VAT is and they closed my case.

I just think it's exceedingly shady for such a large business. I used to be a heavy steam user before this change with over 60 games on my account, and haven't bought a single full price game since. I think I've just bought a couple 5€ things from sales.

I have always wondered how Valve maintain such a rabid and loyal fan base when they have such atrocious support for both their games and Steam.

Valve are not exactly hands on or forthcoming with any information, very ivory tower.

It's still #7 right now. Did you tried that link in other browser like firefox? Look likes my chrome also can't read xml feed directly. But firefox 3.5.7 and ie8 works for me.

All I ever purchase at Steam is Stalker original for $5.

You guys are gonna hate me but... I discovered that I am able to buy games much, much more cheaper than even US from my university. I don't know which country's pricing that is. Mass Effect 2 was 29.99 for US, but from my university, it was 9.99 and from my home it was 49.99. Have been checking prices to confirm this, and now confirmed...

???
