Well I finally tried Psychonauts. I had put it off for awhile because I had a suspicion I wasn't going to enjoy it as much as I have the other Double Fine Games. Unfortunately, I was right. It just has too much platforming. I've done more platforming in my lifetime then I care to do anymore, both 2D and 3D. It's not that I find it difficult, but rather that I just don't enjoying jumping from moving platform to moving platform or playing the "time my swing to not hit XYZ obstacle" game anymore.
For reference, I achieved the Basic Braining course in about 45 minutes before making my decision to stop playing. |

Steam has the Broken Sword 1-3 for $2.50 today. While Broken Sword 3 is mediocre, Broken Sword 1 & 2 are two really fantastic point & click adventures.
Edit: Note, the Broken Sword 1 offered in this bundle is the "Director's Cut" which is a remake with upgraded graphics. Some people, myself included, prefer the original. Fantastic game either way though.

Risen is a good game; I consider it to be the reboot of the Gothic series. It's a typical adventure RPG - and one of the best ones, imho. Games like it are Gothic (very close) and Elder Scrolls as well. I prefer the Gothic/Risen series over the Elder Scrolls series, but that's a personal preference.
The story is pretty bad iirc, but the world is, as always, rich and since it's an open world game with little emphasis on the story, it's not a disaster. |

I like Risen a lot, of course I am a pretty big fan of Piranha Bytes in general. The game is really great for about 80% of it, the final part is rather linear and boring though. Still I would fully recommend it. As with any Piranha Bytes game, you get clunky combat, a rich open world, factions to support or oppose, and choices. I do believe that Risen is one of the games that's free to play (with advertising) on that new GamersGate service, whatever it's called.

Thanks also to you Keyrock - for now, although it may have reached The Hills, the Gamersgate service is not currently available in the UK.

Ah, I didn't know the service wasn't available in your neck of the woods (yet?). By the way there is a demo for Risen floating around the internet. You can always give that a spin to get a bit of the feel of the game.
