Default The Good: Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries is going to be a thing.

The bad:

PGI's going to be developing it.

MW:O didn't do well...Yet I am foolishly hopeful for this.

To be fair, MW was never going to do well online...It looks too pretty, it's BOUND to lag out for a lot of people, even on base settings. It's not really the kind of game you can take online in large groups and not have problems.

Actually, MWO's biggest problems revolve around lack of content and balance, at least IMO. They seem to have more or less fixed any issues with stuff like hit registration. They really need to brainstorm some better game modes though, because the game modes they currently have feel rather uninspired (Domination, Conquest, Assault, Skirmish and Escort). Paul Inouye is also, frankly, utterly unqualified to balance much of anything. He always seems to come up with overly complicated and contrived solutions to problems that would probably be easily resolved by going back to something closer to tabletop rules (see: Ghost Heat - I mean, "Heat Scale").

You may be correct, but in all fairness....Look at Mechwarrior 3 and 4. Those are single player games, with a multiplayer grafted on. That's where the fanbase was, really. Single player was a large part of the appeal for many people, some players never even touched the multiplayer.
Then you make a game without single player, just online...And assume that'll work, that you can get away with that. Well, without a campaign to show you things like, say, mechanics, items, mechs, you know, everything that makes MW great...You have NO clue what anything is.
Words alone really don't cut it when you're trying to pick a mech and load it out, you've gotta try these things out. Except in MWO...That involves buying things with currency you took a long, long time to earn, before you can try them in practice. Bit of a failure there.

I loved Mech Warrior. The games are too old for me to play anymore. I'm REALLY hoping for a NO INTERNET REQUIRED single player game. I wouldn't even mind a redo of Mech 3 same story and all but updated for today's game engines.
