I don't think it's all that basic...pretty good actually.

Posted this earlier in the thread:

+attack speed
+different types of elemental damage
+poison damage

+damage %
+spellpower

+health regen
+defense % and flat
+elemental resistance
+thorns
+% to individual elemental damage (lighting/fire/etc)
+dodge
+essence capacity

That's just what I've found personally in the game so far, and of course early in the game and keep in mind I've combined some of the categories (like stats not listing the individual +stats you can get or the individual elemental effects/%).

Some items have essence slots too, so you can add gems with additional stats based on the essence capacity of the item and the cost of the gem. There's also breaking down items, enchanting them, and some other stuff I haven't tried yet. So there's a bit of a crafting component as well.

*edit*

Also wanted to mention something about the skill system...I think the initial observation still holds pretty much true (cool, but not as deep as TQ)...but...there's a bit more to it than just the skill tree. You also have two sections separate from the skill tree to customize.

First is a tricks page that has two sections, one for passives and one for active skills. You can equip two of both at any given time, and you purchase these from NPC's in town. Not sure if you can find other places to get them but so far that's what I've found. I think there's about 16 of each (based on the number of empty slots). I would compare it slightly to the spells in TL, at least I think that's sorta the functionality it tries to provide.

The second additional skill/passive customization is perks. Basically as you gain XP for killing monsters you also gain xp for your reputation (think fame in TL). Each level in reputation you can pick a new perk, which grants passive bonuses for you or for Katrina. It's sorta like the perk system in Crimson Land (for those who've played that).

Depends on what difficulty you use.

Even 8 gigs was a surprise, but I was lucky with the download rate. Hell even 20 isn't too scary these days. The future is neat. I'll be checking it out this evening.

Saw this coming, but the game already has a 10% off from Steam. Oh noes, what should I do? I wasted about a dollar more! Oh well, gonna start installing the game again, this time with everything in it.
