I think it would be better to skip the game for the time being, at least until the dev stops breaking saves. Hardly worth playing if the save system gets borked with every update. I think, he really should have had this in early access and a lot of closed / open beta testing before the game really went live.

I suspected this would be a beta test nightmare, I was right.
All this does not deter The Weary Adventurer, who lost his save and replayed it all step-by-step to resume the series where it left off, without even complaining about it.

The Weary Adventurer has felt the Incline and it has only increased his desire. He cannot even be named "Weary" in all seriousness anymore. Note the renewed vigor that Incline imparts.

He has traveled a long, hard road from True (and Weary) Hater to Fanboy (Hey baby, I bought Viagra today) Deluxe. This is Incline.

That's the iter of all initiations : To hell and back, after this process the very being of the initiate changes in a substantial way. That's what Tolkien said to us with the figure of Gandalf fighting the balrog in the depths. Grimoire is nowadays alchemy : It turns chaotic matter into gold.

Ps: I still have to buy it so i'm nothing but a f****n poser 😢

i didn't buy it so i don't know, what can i see following steam forums is that this game had a rough start but things are getting better.

What discourages me is the price tag.

I'd like to see if Cleve actually manages to surpass what Avellone did all those years ago

I am sure Wizardry series fits and there are some other mentions which I haven't played but are highly regarded -
Might & Magic, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore and lastly Bard's Tale (getting a reboot next year for those who are interested)

I think the point being that this is a fairly niche genre these days. The fans of this particular niche have likely played all these games. These are the people Grimoire was made for. Noone else. And you better believe Cleve himself will tell you so.

I'd love to play a good Wizardry clone ( or even better, Wizardry 9 ), but I can't say I've enjoyed "Grimwah" so far. Guess I'll stick to Wiz 8 for now.

Gameplay wise maybe I might find it a little hard to get into despite having played these types of games they're never my first preference unless i get a compelling storyline/lore

From what I'm told, Bard's Tale hasn't aged as well as M&M, Ultima and Wizardry. And as someone who wants to get into this series I am open to trying it. I think you're not confident about it cause of Numenara fuck up (haven't played it yet but haven't heard anything pleasant about the game).

InXile made Wasteland 2 so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I sincerely hope they don't fuck up
