Again Disregard the function of both a Gun and a Bow. They are a weapon designed for killing that is all. But an ARPG - RPG Role Playing Game.

I dont think we should advise Game Dev's to exclude content from a game. ANY!

i dont know about you, but what makes a good game for me, is the amount of effort you can see dev's have put into it, agian Content and Variety contribute to this.
So even if it means that I have a choice to wield a Bow in my hand or a Gun for that matter, these little things count, and please all people. If someone does not care for bows in the game, and they are appear they dont mind, but the person that was screaming for them is deeply satisifed (i.e. The OP of this thread) but if someone wants bows and they do not feature in the game, they are mildly dissaponted / saddened, where as the person that didnt care for bows, still doesnt care. Long winded but you get my point.

Thank you,
BTW I am not complaining about bows, if you were referring to me.
I understand your reasoning there, Beaston, though I was not referring to you when I asked why are people complaining, but there have been a few complaints from fans who believe all guns to be overpowered (but the Victorian ones we will be seeing in GD aren't like that, they are the early concept of guns, and not as powerful as guns today). Though I understand your logic about bows and how it shows that developers have put alot of effort in, I reckon we should get more of the world designed before things like that Btw, bows could be added in a mod if people wanted them to, just change the textures and names on some of them and it could work maybe...

True words said, This game is still a long way off.
There are certainly more important things to consider / discuss at this point in development.
All I know people is this game is gonna be awesome. Bows or not. And I think this is something we all agree on.

pardon the truncated links, sub link limit poster here :P

So not specifically prohibited in that one. didn't read the rest of the references. Consider:
1- animation cost
2- overall aesthetics (fit with the stated time period)

I believe by 1700 on bows kinda fell out of favor for warfighting in europe.

The last recorded use of bows, in an English battle, seems to have been a skirmish at Bridgnorth, in October 1642

on the other hand the characters are likely adventurers and we all know they're eccentric kooks. But since this is a looting game, it's questionable whether bows would be a common or desirable weapon.

Thanks for the detective work madned!

Hmm.. While i agree that bows doesn't fit the whole victorian theme, it'd seem odd to leave them out of an ARPG

.. But if they do, it's not the end of the world.

We may have crossbows but only if we can figure out how to design them so that they look good with the existing gun animations. Seems like it should work though.
from http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showt...4501#post24501
also through the info list

i figured we were talking the self/recurves/staff bows.

It's an alternate timeframe/universe, history doesn't apply directly.

I believe we've already seen crossbows, in screenshots. One in the hands of a guard, and another being used by the hero himself!

But it's based upon the victorian era. For all the reasons something made sense in that era, it makes sense in Grim Dawn.
