Default Why is this game taking so long to make?!

Are they trying to break some kind of new record for development time?

Can someone please explain what's going on.

P.S.
I just played Titan Quest and was left amazed how great it looks, the animations, graphics, enjoyable rag-doll physics, skill and build variety.
I particularly liked how sometimes you can snipe enemies below cliffs, I haven't seen anything like that in other ARPGs, they simple don't have such depth of space.

If you haven't yet, you should definitely play Titan Quest, if it were released this year people would think it's a triple A title.

How long has Dwarf Fortress been in development again? Anybody?

Ps.. Most of us are here because we are long intimate with Titan Quest

Too long (8 years), but it will be in development until the day that Toady keels over and dies.

As for the OP.. read up and follow the Misadventures and you'll get a pretty good idea of where the games at. The last leg of the journey is in sight imo

I made a Rogue bow character that invests all skill points into trap tree, it's slow to start with but at lvl 14 it gets amazingly powerful, I love it, so many choices!
I don't even use any ranged attacks now...

From what's I have seen so far Titan Quest is much better than Grim Dawn in all aspects..

Titan Quest is a great game.. But I'm going to disagree here.. Grim Dawn is rapidly becoming superior in execution and ease of play. Titan Quest is a bit frustrating to go back to after being used to the modernized GD. It's a great game, just dated.

Yup, I watched some videos, and graphics and animations are better in Titan Quest.

I guess this is the price of not being a proper game development studio.

Because small and ambitious development team? These things take time, especially if you want them done right. Don't worry the game is being worked on and you have the Zantai guarantee that they are working towards a release date prior to the sun extinguishing.

Oh wow, I just read this through their twitter:

Quote:
All this and more awaits you as we continue to release more of Act 3’s content. We expect Chapter 2 to be released in March 2015, or earlier. Make sure to check back on 01/05/2015 as we start off the New Year!
So, the whole game will not even be finished in the next year!
Can't they get a publisher for proper funding?
Surely they can make the case for great interest.
