Talking A Look at the Itemization & Crafting systems (Video+)

VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neHLtcd0j1c

Overall I'm super, super impressed with the itemization system shown even this early in the game. It's downright compelling, especially gear-specific skills and the differences in stats (main stats, secondary stats, teritary stats, utility stats, +skills, new skills).

Finding that first berserker helmet was a great feeling, it works so well in my build. Even though I've long since finished the alpha quests I'm still farming bosses to try and find as many different items as possible. Level scaling helps this a lot

Crafting is pretty compelling too, I feel driven to seek out certain types of components to supplement certain items I find (fire damage components if I find a weapon that deals fire damage as a base etc).

Damn Crate, well done so far.

From what I understand, the component system is NOT the crafting system... they are just the enhancement system. There will be a full crafting system that lets you make items from scratch, but it's not in the alpha.

I agree that item enhancement rocks

O_O That's awesome news! The enhancement system is compelling enough in it's own right but if they are also adding in another crafting system I'm very excited! I look forward to trying that when it's put in.

I seen some of your stuff earlier. A streamer from Twitch sent me to your channel and I was checking out some of your other great content as well. Keep up the good work. Don't find many positive people these days.

TarkeCat I'll be stopping by his stream at some point to talk about Grim Dawn and ARPGs in general at some point!

Right now in the Alpha is it possible to remove a component from an item like it was possible in Titan Quest?

Yeah, after rescuing a particular NPC you can use them to either salvage the item or the component... for a cost.

Got my first epic item yesterday (blue), the... Occultist Crown , +1 to all occultist skills, +25% to elemental/chaos damage, +1 energy regen and something else, it looks like a spiked lich crown, very awesome beside of the fact that i am a demolitionist, BUT it is useful in any case, (found it after flooded passage in a zombie soldier lvl 15+).

That is a badass occultist item! the 25% damage on top of the skill point buff is huge.

I've found about 3 blues so far. One was a Berserker helmet with the unique skill berserk (attack speed at the cost of defense) and another was a lightning nova sword (which put my DPS over 125 before even adding the nova). Really fun to find these ones.
