Default War Z fiasco

Anyone else following this?

Here's some reading material if you haven't heard of it yet:

Long and short of it...supposedly War Z is game that seems to be trying the same kind of stuff that Day Z is doing (not a bad thing on it's own). The issue here I guess is that they rushed it out the door on Steam, had a product page with blatant lies, and compound the issue by doing bans and other unscrupulous practices is in response to negative criticism.

I think steam should put their foot down and issue refunds for everyone and remove the game from steam, they need to do better quality control for new games, this isn't the first time they released such a buggy game, or one that the devs lied about, as there is a game called Towns, the issue is, the game is far from complete, and the devs of the said game said that the game is fully playable, but its far from it, the game is in a fair bit of a mess, plenty of bugs and unfinished content that should really be in, yes it was given the greenlight to be released on steam, but steam should be a lot more careful to release half finished, . buggy games, otherwise more people will be demanding refunds and give steam a very bad name, for releasing games that are full of holes and lies

not bought the game you listed, and not interested in getting it, but steam should be a lot more careful on quality control

Yeah. It's pathetic. I don't blame Steam particularly as it never seemed to me that they make any claims of quality, except Valve's own.

Honestly I don't want Steam to turn into the Apple/XBox Live/Etc...what I mean is I don't need Steam to quality check every game. I am an informed consumer and I'd side more with developer freedom and an open platform over Steam acting as some gate for developers. Bugs happen, and hell, it's the PC platform so bugs are not evenly distributed anyways.

With that said...

I think the line for me is flat-out misrepresenting a product on Steam. Not sure what they can do about it, but the one thing I would like to see is a better refund policy. If a Steam user can show a company misrepresented/lied about their product in a clear way, then a user should have the ability to seek recourse (refund).

I think you meant unscrupulous. Scrupulous means on the level and with moral integrity.

Anyway, this sort of thing was bound to happen. It's sad when people take advantage of others and advantage of a system.

Well, I was one of those that bought into the bullshit that is War Z. I'm in the process of getting a refund as of now. The game itself was ok, but after seeing all the underhanded, shifty business dealings the developers have been up to, I decided that this game has no future.

Long story, short; Been there, played that, got the hell out.

The movie looks good...

The game..."eh"
I can't seem to get interested in it.
But then again, I don't care for MMO type games.
Which is a good thing I didn't...otherwise I'd be peeved too.

It appears that the option to purchase the game on Steam has been removed.
