I really like the idea of "unique" items truly being unique. I never played D2 so I don't know everything about it, but it sounds like it had some really awesome stats on it's unique items
For example, that "enemies rest in peace" stat really got me thinking. If I found a really powerful ring with far better stats than Nature's Peace, but was versing and enemy mob or boss that resurrected his fellows, I would still probably wear Nature's Peace, just because of that 1 unique stat!
Stats like that really make it viable for certain situations. I like it!

Yeah that's what I meant with unique abilities, though you have to be careful... I think it's very easy to make such an item too strong or too weak, really hard to balance.

for anybody who played TL2 beta, i liked the special weapons who get additional bonuses on completing a sort of small quest. it was required to kill an XX number of enemy, like zombies or spiders, which would eventually make the weapon stronger.
I haven't played TL2 but actually thought of something like that too, especially there could be a counter on a weapon and with each slain enemy the weapon gets stronger.. would be cool to see such a weapon after 10 years of use.

I also liked some of the rare or unique items in Iran quest that actually gave u a skill so I could in fact be like a warrior class but a certain helmet would have like a ranger trap ability (I'm sorry been lOng time since I played TQ) altho it would be nice if it scaled with u because most the time it was like a lvl5 skill that really hardly helped much unless it was like stone form or something )
