Youtube: "oh, btw you might like this"

Me - yeap.

What? I have a critical weakness to indie stuff like this, mainly since I grew up listening to R.E.M.

Busy stuffing my new microSD card full of music, which made me realise I had some stuff to listen to that I hadn't yet.

Current unburied treasure - No Age - Snares Like A Haircut. I quite like it, reminds me a lot of older Dunedin sound stuff, which I'm weak to :P

Before Crowded House (which a few us will have had our parent's inflict on us) there was Spit Enz:

Only one of there's I've got is the Best Of, History Never Repeats, but it's pretty fluffing good. Not in the earliest strata of my library, but 2006 is still pretty old :P Got it due to listening to Radio Hauraki, which back in the early/mid 00's played a lot of older (non-dad) rock and NZ stuff. And then there was Radio Kiwi, 100% NZ music all the time and a f*cking brilliant education on just how much music my small, isolated home of NZ had made or stemmed from Kiwi's who left to go overseas and try and break into the international music industry.

Yeah, this is going on the microSD card.

Youtube: You might just like Skating Polly...

Me: Sure, whatevers.

Later: - https://soundcloud.com/el-camino-med...-it-all-show-1
Yeah, that's right in my sort-of-Nirvana-shaped soft spot. And only getting better the more I listen.

Me: Score another win for youtube's music recommendation algorithm, though of course you need to know how to weed out the paid for poop, which oft is handily marked as coming from Vevo.

...And Skating Polly has completely captured my ears and displaced Screaming Females - All At Once completely as my regular, on repeat, album.

Along with chasing off Idles, which is pretty damn amazing given how much Joy As An Act of Resistance got stuck in my head, despite The Make it All Show having no real ear-worms.

I can haz moar time b4 discovering new favourite bands pleaz?

Elder Things damn you Youtube recommendation algorithm!:

What the flaming goat balls? Is that, wait, it's real? They're synthesizing multiple bits of 70's music styles in some unholy rock, god-like thing and it's not a one-hit wonder?

They're surprisingly good, damn, bandcamp's really made it easy for new groups to emerge and be viable enough sales wise.

Oh and moar Church:
