Default speed vs flat damage, which is........

true dps? can we take into consideration how bloated attack/cast speed gives to paper dps as compared to flat damage or does it not matter? i want have a clarification on this. ty

im a new player here and wanted to know what you guys prioritize. ty

Both

You can have nice dps due to let's say max attack speed but in real world you won't perform well. You try to balance both.

If you are a sword and board player for example you should strive for at least 150-160% attack speed.

At this point Flat damage has great value. If I were to pick between 5%AS and 10 flat damage. I'd pick the flat damage. Especially in 2h weapons where AS has diminishing returns beyond 160%.

Don't tress too much over this now. Take what you can. Especially if you are a new player.

Regards attack speed beating damage.... if you're proccing a skill on each attack, then the more attacks you can land in the space of time the better for the procs. Otherwise as Superfluff said it depends on the situation.

Just enjoy your first few chars without worrying too much and see what suits your playstyle best

I always aim for 3 attacks per second, then everything else go into damage
