Yes, but they are not unique "human abilities". If you want to "level up" in mathmatics, you study mathmatics and practice solving equations. You "level up" as a mathmatician, not as "human", and then you get "stat points" you could invest into "intelligence" to better understand mathmatics. Same goes for sport achievements; you could become a lvl 10 footballer, but that doesn't mean you have 10 human levels.

While you might be ok with defining vampire as a class and not a race, I think its a terrible idea and I hold on to that. I don't care if you could play the race vampire, but it is not a class. When a vampire gets better at using his unique vampire abilities it is because he gets smarter/stronger (more intelligence/strength/charisma/whatever).
If you make vampire a class, you basically say; vampires can only do this. That is not very good nor imaginative. And it doesn't make much sense if you're looking to create an immersive fantasy world.

I see now where we part out. You are trying to say that vampire is not a profession and it cannot be freely chosen by anyone. In these matters vampire class stands aside other classes and you are correct with that. However, you are still wrong that vampires cannot learn and "level up". Even talking about innate abilities - humans can speak and think. And they can speak and think better or worse. So leveling has nothing to do with your arguments and others trying to tell you just that.
I don't like vampires as a PC class either. They are just too different from other classes and don't fit into the setting. But that does not mean they cannot be a class or meta-class in other RPG at all.

Yet you are making the same mistake. Vampire can be a class. If all other classes are something like that - i.e. some species with innate abilities. While I agree with you that mixing learning and innate abilities is not a good idea, vampires can be viewed as learning disciplines just like humans - and it was perfectly shown in VTM: Bloodlines. Their innate abilities just open these disciplines to them but they still require to learn and practice to master any discipline.
Issue with GD and vampires lie in the other matters. First, we cannot make classes for ordinary humans and supernatural creatures equally available to the same PC. The same person cannot be vampire and human at the same time. And as I said above - vampire is not a profession or skills set at all so it just cannot be freely chosen in the current setting without breaking the basics.

So, in short - I agree with you in "no vampires". I just disagree with your arguments as I believe you chose wrong ones

Vampires can be badass, without fitting into either the Twilight cliche, or the Dracula style either.

Personally I think stereotypical bats and whatnot are pretty lame, but some sort of draining skills, along with abilities that allow for stealth and perhaps move speed bonuses would be cool. In fact, the ability to use your health as a resource would be cool to mess around with.

Aesthetically though, I don't feel like they should look any different than other characters, minus some slight details like glowing eyes perhaps. Again, this is something to help get it away from the stigma that Twilight and even Dracula style vampires have attached to vampires as a whole.

Point being, a Vampire class is feasible to pull off without succumbing to the cliches that come along with them. Not only that, but it could be very unique and fun. I'll be curious to see how modding goes with GD, because now I'm interested in messing around with a Vampire class on my own lol.

I mean, it doesn't even have to be called a Vampire anyways. Look at how Torchlight goes about naming classes. We understand the archetype without needing a stereotypical title attached to it.

I think GD will have most masteries(and their combinations) covered. We'll see what feels missing once we play the game.

I personally adore angelic and demonic look Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver..it would be interesting to fight evil and corruption and be not so innocet type of hero ~ocultist have some of that dark feeling but dont even come close to vampiric long existence and actions.

I'd love to play as Edward cuz he's so cute and he sparkles

...but seriously, I really enjoyed the vampire class in Sacred. It would be very cool in this game.

I'll agree to a vampire class on one condition:
I get a werewolf class too! Vampires are over done, lycans are where it's at!
