I think its up to the game if it fits or not just makeing a game and adding them later on for steam (at least it always felt like that) than rather no.
I personally count the Badass system from Borderlands to it too and there its actully fun.
Rewarding Arivments is pretty much a hard desicion ... without i usally dont go after them with i consider it if its worth ...even when its only Skins whats actully a good choise not affecting game mechanics so who dont bother about them leave them~

EDIT:Got the Idea just let it be like Borderlands 2 affecting stats those who dont want them turn it off...for those who want to prove they didnt used extra boost maybe an extra gamemode whitch totaly aint let you use them so no turning on/off

*If* you put in some sort of Achievements into this game then it needs to mean something.

In D3 they mean absolutly (spelled like the Vodka, LOL) NOTHING!

In Mythos they helped the player in some fashion such as resistance or magic finding.

At any rate that's my 2 cents worth on this.

Apparantly I already replied once to this thread, but it's recently brought back to my attention in another post.

Anyone knows how the dev team feels about this?
If done right (not the D3 way), i think it can add an extra layer to the game and some replayability.

Don't know if making a poll about this would be an option?

I am an achievement hunter and I love games that have achievements! So many more things to do when you perhaps are bored.

Thanks for the response Eis.

It's good to see they are considering achievements. I agree that achi's shouldn't give ingame bonuses/benefits. They have to feel rewarding tho, so some "useless" ingame items should be cool. Crafting materials for a ridiculous looking set. Or some cosmetic items.

But first things first --> alpha!

Achivements.. i think they can be very nice addition to game.. but as many of us pointed not done like D3 way... or Wow way.. i personally dont like achiv's that are so easy to do that you cant avoid from gettin them.
... > making your first character after installing game...putting name.. POOF you get achiv.. please
In other hand.. for me.. they should be quite hard to gain.. many should be nearly impossible to get.. because then i have more satisfaction from it.

As for rewars from completing few of achiv's it would be nice to see some effect for example..if you beat some very hard enemy in max difficulty you will have dark aura coming from you..maybe some sort of wings or something showing how much you challenge thru game.
Some of them should be funny too

Yeah some cosmetics, like a nice looking pitch black cape.
Imo WoW had nice achievements as well. Sure they had a lot of mongoloid achievements like exploration or doing stupid stuff during events.
But I did like the achievements related to boss encounters finishing them in way more challenging ways (enraging bosses, not killing adds, killing bosses in a wrong order applying buffs/debuffs...)
Ofc an mmorpg is something totally different.
I do agree they need to have some difficulty to it tho.
