Default Gunslinger Sorc builds in AoM

So I've been away for about a year and have recently come back and purchased the AoM expansion.

Now, I'm aware that gunslinger sorc is not an advised build at the moment (Purifier seems to be popular from what I can tell), but since I have a level 80 Sorc and I can't switch out Arcanist without using a save editor tool, are there any particular modifications I should be thinking about making (mostly in terms of devotions and items to aim for) taking into account the new content from the expansion?

My current build is as follows: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/wV1PyJ72

Thanks in advance

why not start a new char if you wanna do purifier?

Do you have any idea how you will do the build at level 100?

What is the goal with the char?

To be clear, I quite enjoyed playing this character the last time I was playing, and my comment regarding the Purifier was mainly to head off any comments of "You should do a Purifier build instead".

I've no idea what my build will look like at 100 to be honest, that's part of what I'm looking for advice on (since all of the gunslinger sorc builds I've come across are pre-AoM).

This is my first Grim Dawn character so the goal was broadly twin pistols focusing on fire (with Aether/Lightning as secondary damage types and Cold/Chaos as tertiary damage types).

I would try to focus on just one dmg source (fire, which you say you are doing), I changed the skills to what I would aim for the upcomming 5-6 levels or so, changed components in guns, and tied devotions to skills that are not default attack replacers (if you have 20% chance of using that skill and the devotion have 20% chance to proc, the devotion is gonna proc once every 25th attack on average). If you want more damage, go to Ulzuins torch next and perhaps also Magi.

You need items which gives armor (especially chest and legs). You also need more Defensive ability, resists and health. Devotions can help with DA (Wolverine instead of Owl) and you have the Temper skill to give more flat armor. Since you will be using flashbang, you do not need that much OA elsewhere.

I would pump Temper (armor), Isakandras (flat dmg) + Elemental balance (crit damage) and perhaps more Thermite trap (more enemy resistance reduction) the last levels.

If you need more saftey against trash mobs, you can pump Olexra more but bosses and monsters that are immune to Freeze are not affected by it, and not its negative fire resistance either.

There are plenty of decent items you can buy from the AoM vendors (Coven, Barrowholm and Malmouth resistance) once you hit level 90 and revered with them, like these shoulders https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7638 and this chest https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7698 in case you do not find anything else.

I don't think the sorc is gonna do you any favours because of a lack of WPS. I *could* be wrong though.

Here's one of my earlier builds to give you some insight: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72146

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy could be polished more. I know I'm not the best theorycrafter around.

malawiglenn: Thanks for your input, I appreciate the time you took to respond.

Couple of questions:

Regarding the change in gun components, I'm not sure that I see the benefit of the Hollowed Fang over the Haunted Steel. From what I can see, the Haunted Steel appears to be better in pretty much every regard.

What is the purpose of pulling so many points from the IEE line?

I assume the point of pulling almost all of the BWC points is basically to use it as a cheap vector for the meteor ability?

Finally on the subject of attaching devotion skills to volley and salvo, while I agree that in isolation it would look like a reduced chance to proc, given the rate of auto-attacks (compared to the rate of flashbang or BWC or the thermite mines), it feels to me like in practice they should proc around the same amount, without the need to interrupt the attack too often to drop a flashband or BWC. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.

In terms of legendaries (both old and new with AoM), would you advise trying to find anything specific? I'm considering some parts of the Ulzuin's set (I have the helm already), but other than that, I'm not really certain what I should be trying to find/craft/trade for.

sir spanksalot: While I no doubt will run an inquisitor build at some point, I'm still working through my first full playthrough (Normal-Ultimate) of Grim Dawn, and don't want to either have to use a save editor to change class.

Thanks for your time though, I do appreciate alternative viewpoints and other builds to look at.

Sorry, I did change the Haunted steel to hollowed fang by mistake. I intended to change the other to Devil touched ammo which boosts fire damage and gives a nice skill that gives some life steal.

I removed from IEE to provide more fire damage, some armor and two of the best skills in the Demolitionst: flashbang (more effective OA) and Thermite trap (removing monster resistance)

Yes BWC will serve best just to proc Meteor in this set up I think. You could also get rid of it completely and tie Meteor to the skill from Devil touched ammo

Flashbang is one of the best skills the Demolitionst has at his/her disposal. Look at the amount of DA reduction it gives! Considering that it will factor out to become a main damage source of yours, I would go for defensively devotions and gear (look for DA, physical resist, resist and high armor) and considering putting some more points into elemental exchange (if you crit alot, you also wanna crit hard)

Here are some ranged faction weapons
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7728
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/703
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7735

notice that the two last are 2Handed, you could then go for Kraken devotion and get another relic (Conflagration is the budget option, Annihilation high tier option) random green weapons with the correct mods will overpower your weapons soon.

Here are some new faction rings you perhaps wanna check out too
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7572
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7575
https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7573

You might also get some inspiration from this thread http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74454 even if it is Demo+Inquis, gear should be pretty much the same apart from your relic which you need to dual wield pistols.
