funnily enough i couldn't get into the mass effect plot/lore/universe (or should i say one-man-show?) precisely because of how these choices were laid out and their fairly ridiculous consequences. way too much revolved around shepard, i mean even facing extinction the different species wait for their galactic celebrity/saviour to pitch 'em undertaking a combined defensive? right... so all the time the player/shepard has been the deus ex machina for all the problems of this galaxy which means that this latest deus ex machina makes no difference for the rest of the galaxy but only the player/shepard. and obviously it was too much to ask of a lot of players to get in line and swallow their pride (after 3 games nourishing it)...

kinda a prime example of our western ideology of individualism (and how it backfires)...

Because heaven forbid you are the Hero in a video game.

Call me crazy but when I pay $70 for a video game I damn well expect the entire in game universe to revolve around me. When one of the NPC's pays $70 they can have the universe revolve around them instead. Until that point:
