This is an idea I have been working with on and off recently, compiling names, etc. to suggest, and I have now concluded I like the idea as it is. So, here we go.
The centre of this idea is a building. An isolated manor house which was converted into an asylum soon before the apocalypse, a mental home for those who saw the horrors of the warp. These people weren't neccesarily mad, but considered to be by the common folk, who had not yet seen these things. After the apocalypse, many simply forgot about the manor house, too concerned with surviving. But Mulciber, the manor's architect, insisted on sending a reconnaissance unit to investigate the building, claiming if reinforced the manor could prove to be a useful fortification and foothold for the survivors. The town (Devil's Crossing maybe?) sent some sentries to the house. What the sentries discovered inside the manor nearly drove them as insane as the asylum interns. Ch'thonic cultists had attacked and a massacre ensued. Survivors were taken prisoner, herded below into the basement and sacrificed, their bodies bloodily decorating the walls. From journal pages scattered around the building's interior, the player learns that two guardsmen, Zenin and Ryckard, were posted to the manor as protection for the interns' keeper, a peaceful reverend. These (3 or 4) journal pages start before the apocalypse at the beginning of Zenin/Ryckard's time at the manor, and end with the guardsman providing instructions on how to gain access to a hidden chamber next to the basement, without using the stairs (the obvious route). This secret room is opened by clicking on a section of wall, which slides open sideways (like some doors in TQ) and locks after the player enters. In this secret room is a locked boss chest and a final scrap of writing, in which Zenin/Ryckard mentions that the cultists move freely about the floors above, but only their leader ever enters the basement. In the final sentence he states his intention of making a break for the exit on the ground floor, just above the basement entrance, and that he hopes to surprise the cultists before they can react. The next room is the basement, which can also be reached via the stairs near the front door if the player has slain the cultists' leader on the top floor (his death unlocks the door, like how those chests are locked until you slay the boss guarding them) In the basement, the player finds a bloody corpse in guardsman uniform (a blue overcoat like the sentry on the left here). Presumably this is the body of Zenin or Ryckard, whichever one wrote the journal entries. A demon is also present in the basement, summoned by all the spilt blood and bodies, etc. It is this demon that the player needs to slay to unlock the boss chest in the hidden chamber. Now is the player's chance to liberate the manor house, as well as avenging all those slaughtered by the cultists, the reverend and interns, Zenin and Ryckard. When this demon is defeated, it might drop good/unique loot - I'll leave that up to the devs, if they want to include this idea. One thing the demon could drop may be something pertaining to "Asylum Intern 101". Regular forum members would get this ![]() Anyway, the player would then simply have to return to Mulciber to receive the reward; Architect's Prints, functioning as a fulcrum (the book held in the off-hand slot, I presume?). This might give extra experience, or maybe even boost Demolition skills/grant a unique skill, I'll leave it up to the devs if they like this. ![]() Also, a cool thing that could happen is once the quest of the manor house is complete, after quitting the game and starting again later, guards could be posted at the building again and no corpses are in the house, as they are burning in a pile outside. Blood stains would remain however. Thanks for reading this extremely long post (without pictures, which is unlike me! )Tell me what you think! ![]() Cheers, Younghappy

Sounds great. One thing, I remember reading about there being no +EXP items, or maybe it was only no +Magic Find items, thought both. What a great horror story for those poor unstable children and adults. They had no idea what to do, except maybe some of them went insane because they could see it coming. Maybe some writing in blood on the walls "They're coming", some of the unstable patients like dogs knew this before it happened.

I wouldn't have suggested this idea had it not been for Jalex's second environment preview, as that showed me the extent of how sadisticly beautiful GD is going to be (all the bodies, etc. feeding the summoning of a demon)Cheers for the reply Konda, glad you liked the idea Younghappy ![]() Also, did you get the "Asylum Intern 101" thing?

1. Referring to the Immigration Law 101? Requirements for seeking asylum?
2. How about Room 101 for Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four? The room where your worst fear lies? I would normally go with the first one but as it is a house of horrors.
