I have not noticed the gates closing after death. I place them outside the boss rooms and when i die and i am able to port back. either i missed the post where you guys changed ports closing or there is an exploit.

This poll is 2 years old. Portals were changed to stay open ages ago.

Sorry for digging that deep, but I have to write this:

Coming from games like Dark Souls and knowing what a punishing experience it can be to die, I feel like there is no punishment of dying in Grim Dawn. Literally none.

I can just open the portal and go in wave after wave and kill everything. I can even leave in between, e.g. when running out of health.

An increase of experience-loss when not getting to your grave would be nice. Another idea could be that you break your gear, which you have to repair for amount x of iron bits (no other repair mechanic besides that though, only for death).

In my opionon it's a missed opportunity for action and thrill.

/necro /necro If your character dies in Bastion of Chaos, Steps of Torment, Port Valbury, The Crucible, you will feel harsh punishment. And if you forgot the safety portal in the hive for example: Yes, you will Enough penalty for my taste.

Play Hardcore - then you'll definitely feel the pain. Dead toon - game over.

At lev85 an accountwide 3 hours 50% runspeed loss and 90% dropchance drop would be amazing then!
And possible pets should turn against you since you are no necro but revived yourself.

Why does this thread keep getting bumped? I thought it has served its purpose

Not like people posting against this in 2017 can get the decision reversed

Honestly I'm surprised that the forum doesn't have an auto-lock after 6 months (or whatever) of inactivity function. Although it is kind of amusing to see people necro years-dead topics to chime in with their also years-dead opinion.

If you don't want portals active when you die, here's an easy fix: don't use them. There, now you can slam your dick in a car door all you like and the rest of us can have fun.
