It might be just me, but in terms of immersion I can's see much difference between a sign popping up telling you your location as you enter a new area or telling you you've just achieved something the game tracks. As long as the message doesn't require you closing it, I don't see it as any different to any other message the game throws at you randomly.

I like achievements and I hope they are in the game, but on the other hand I won't miss them if they're not. I don't care if they are just Steam achievements that are rather superfluous or meaningful ones that enhance the character.

Anything that adds to the game-play and replayability is good IMO. Usually when I get tired of the basic game, I'll look up achievements and use those for gameplay goals.

I would like achievments if they brought something interesting to the game that isn't accomplished just by playing the game. I think that achievments like "kill 1000 Goblins" are just boring. I would like an achievement system like they have in TF2 but i don't really see a way to implement something like this into an arpg (Esaically with the mastery system)

What if Achievements were only in survival mode? I would imagine that your immersion would probably already be broken while playing that (depending on how they execute it). That way it doesn't interfere with some people's enjoyment of the main game, and still provides something to work towards for achievement chasers. It may even spur some people to try survival mode that otherwise wouldn't.

achivement for sake of achivements that comes with nice catch frazy like "butcher time! (and sub text) you did that you killed those 1000 mobs" No i dont like and thats what they are for me so far in all games i saw them.
Achivements that bring some sort of reward. Yes ! that would be interesting and keep me going in trying to Achive them rather then randomly just get one "Butchet time !"
so yes for achivments that are rewarding and you have to achive them.
As for reward i was thinking that diablo 3 achivement of new icon for banenr that nobody give a ... about is lame. when playing diablo i thought hey it would be cool if i could customize my user bar and achiment unlock some cool looking elements . the more i achive and unlock as ceratin class the more it gets look and feel of my playstyle .. does it make sense ?

Other idea would be for unlocking in game pices of armor "sets" uniq set that can be unlocked just with achivments.
I guess there gone be shared chest so it could go in there and even if would ne not much of use for some hihg level class then it might be nice for some new class that we want to try go net. you know .. usefullness .. i dont know if thats a word but if it is , it is key to make achivements anything more then just pr bs saying "butcher time ! "

I think achievement are a winning concept within games. Usually increases the time a few olayers play the game and gives you something to do when all the quests are completed. Def a yes from me.

I have mixed feelings about achievements.
I liked most of the WoW achievements, I disliked the diablo 3 achievements.

If you're gonna implement achievements, they need to feel rewarding.

So, if there must be achievements, an option to remove their immediate display on the screen is needed, and they must be only non-reward features (giving nor xp, added quests or items):
we could choose to see them only if we search for their window.

Achievements are not needed.
Achievements is garbage. In Titan Quest no achievements and no one disappointed by this.
Achievements for the RPG genre does not fit.
