I was updating my brother on the recent GD news and he asked me if there were any interesting skill ideas. I took it as a leading question and asked what he was thinking.
A spear throw skill would be cool. It does not need to be fancy but fancy is almost always nice. The description of the skill was similar to a spear throw in the game Vindictus. We would like to see a similar animation and knockdown effect if the skill or something similar is in GD. Other Possible Attributes of the Skill: 1) The spear is a separate object when thrown and is as persistent as an object on the ground. The player needs to come within a few meters of the spear to "pick it back up" and immediately remove or drastically reduce the cooldown. 2a) Spear can only be thrown at targets X distance away. 2b) Spear skill used on target too close acts as a stab skill (like Lethal Strike) 3) Passive flag attachment on the spear provides a TQ Warfare-like banner buff. (customizable image?) 4) Spear landing location has aoe random effect. 5) Spear trajectory is an arc similar to Fire orb. 6) If spear kills target, the target is impailed and rooted to the floor. ______________________________________ I know I've brought this up before but ya, it's that cool. Hammer Throw (1) All relevant from above (2) Throw is lower (not arced) and causes knockback. (3) The toss is a channeled skill, press the skill again to release. During rotation enemies are dealt minor physical damage and armor reduction. *1 rotation uses the hammer as a melee weapon and uppercuts a target *2 rotations quickly tosses the hammer for quick damage and knockback *3+ rotations tosses the hammer for full knockback, damage and aoe effects. *6+rotations causes player to be temporarily stunned (dizzy) after release (4) Landing aoe relative to current masteries (Demolition is explosion, Warfare is stun and damage, ect) (5) While channeled melee weapon, guns, and shield are put away. |

I like this.
However, it may be another case of "The developers of Grim Dawn don't have infinite money and time, and and have a billion other things to implement, and probably won't get around to it." Still, good idea.

isn't more pratical to do a new class of weapons (for expasion maybe) like javelins, throwable knives and axes? cool idea anyway

This would give us more ranged weapons. They could have different animations for ranged and close combat. Actually, this was suggested in Spear-like weapons ?.
Maybe it is just more practical to add them as skills (as suggested here) - like Throwing Knife in TQ's Rogue mastery.
