Default Allow myself to introduce.... myself

Hi community,

My name is Brett. My handle comes from a cross between the nickname for the martial art Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Jitz) mixed with the German word for a violent assault (Blitzkrieg). It's untaken in most every forum I've ever found so it has stuck with me over the years.

With that said, I have to say that this whole project caught me by surprise and actually opened a whole other world of gaming for me.

Perhaps I wasn't ambitious enough in my search for good ARPG's, but my cousin and I coasted on LAN games in D2 every summer for about the past 10 years. Different builds every time, until we beat hell Baal. Then we'd do it again the year after... D3 was supposed to change all that, and usher in a new era of family-traditional gaming..... Sadly, it fell so short of expectations that the box is now currently supporting the front end of my AC unit in the window. I have never progressed past Hell difficulty, and never intend to...

In my rage, I sought out the Blizzard forums, hoping to quench my insatiable fury with the violent rantings of others who felt just as violated... It was there that I saw that magical comment that forever changed my gaming world.

"Grim Dawn (the url was actually here, but this being my 1st post, I can't post it)... It's everything Diablo 3 should have been and more"

Intrigued, I ventured to the aforementioned realm and BEHOLD, a dark stallion awaited!

I lurked here for several months after the fact, reading, absorbing, anticipating.. I am sad to admit I was not a part of the KS project, a folly I begrudgingly accept, but I was elated to see how well it went (Almost DOUBLED the target). Finally, at long last, I decided to register and join this incredible community. So here I am!

I look forward to seeing this game progress to its Alpha and Beta stages, and will happily purchase it once released. I have a feeling it will be a frontrunner in the ARPG genre long into the future. I claim no elitist knowledge of the developer's former studios or games. I am embarassed to say I didn't play TQ (although that may be beneficial to not tempering any sort of expectations for GD), but I'm here now and plan to be a contributing member to the Grim Dawn project in one way or another.

so you haven't pre ordered it yet? and how can you hope to see how it progresses if you not got alpha and beta access

still there might be hope in you yet, you should give titan Quest a go, you can buy it pretty cheaply off steam if you not already got the game

anyway, welcome to the forums, the above is making fun of you a little, so don't take offences, and buy GD when you are ready as you won't be disappointed, and oh yes welcome to the forums

Co-op Digital Deluxe Bundle I have upped my pledge to $200, to show my support to the devs and GD, I hope a few more people follow my lead and KS will be successful. I want this game so badly, and I want it to rock

Thanks,

I'm pretty laid back, so it's all in fun. But I really should pre-order this and try out TQ.

I heard TQ with IT and some fan mods make it alot better. Any suggestion for which mods? I'd like to get it just to familiarize myself with the engine and such, so that GD isn't so much of a learning curve

Welcome to the forums I guess. If you want to contribute to the project you still can via the buy now button on the top of the page. There are a few tiers you can purchase and they are more or less equivalent to the Kickstarter ones. Not to be a negative nancy here, but please try to keep your expectations in check. It's always better to be pleasently surprised than it is to feeling let down.

Thanks for the tip, and nice to meet you.

This game would have to drastically fall on it's face, exploit me for my money, lack any sort of character build structure and have virtually NO endgame strategy besides grinding for gold to buy stronger items, in order for it to fall short of my expectations.

I expect only one thing: A good game. I have a feeling it won't disappoint.

I would play TQ with IT with the fanpatch installed,

http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/t...fix-patch-1-17

and it only works with IT installed, if you got the steam version, it will run ok on that version too, highly recommended

if you want more help on TQ (I suggest you play the core game first before you think about adding any mods like Lilith) I suggest you pop over to TQ.net

http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/forum.php

there you can find info on builds, and help, as the devs can't really help at all with TQ, as they can't support it anymore, so anything TQ related, that place is your best bet

after that, once you understand the game and engine and such, you can then expand using mods, which there are a few, as TQ has a very good modding community and on that place has mods too, plus support

TQ is a great game and well worth getting and playing, it just a good way to introduce you to the upcoming GD (of course there will be some major differences) but the engine is the same, and how skills work should be similar

hope that helps

Welcome to the forums and great to see another enthusiast. yep you should try TQIT alone, it's not difficult to learn, though requires some effort to master. but after that, you'll have a whole lot of mods available. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
