Default The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing - ARPG

Just learned about this today.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCY7xzCFZNg

It is pre-alpha, but...

1. The trailer seemed quite repetitive.
2. The skill point system looks pretty basic based on what was shown both in the skill tree and during combat.
3. Perhaps there is only one available class type?
4. Van Helsing? Did we really need a game based on a pre-existing fictional character? Where's the originality?

EDIT: Edited for clarity.

The whole of a thing doesn't need to be new something-out-of-nothing for the idea to be original, though. Novelty more often than not comes through seeing an aspect of something existent in a new way, and then funneling fresh ideas through that focus. I actually found their using Van Helsing refreshing. So I'll disagree with you there.

As for the gameplay - they might have focused on getting some smooth footage out there before implementing the skill/character systems, and will be building that out much more. It is a you said pre-alpha.

It's like a console version of the Grim Dawn cultist video!

Yeah, I thought it did look rather Grim Dawn-esque, but simplified. Good lord, he was getting swarmed by some huge packs of enemies though. Still, it's something to keep an eye on.

yeah it does sort of look like GD as well, looks fast and furious, so might be good or might be a slop, will wait for some solid reviews

The graphics are nice but my impression is that it looks too clean. There also seems to be some lack of impact in the hits.

It does look interesting though and it's nice that there's so many arpgs in the works.

They just released a new vid:

It's actually looking a bit better now...especially the combat. Feel meatier and more impactful then the first vids they released.

Also, seems they have some gameplay tricks up their sleeves as well:
