It succeeds in making the ending a little less sucky. It has a few retcons too. It also pretty much kills Indoctrination Theory.
EDIT: PS. If you shoot the catalyst it triggers a new 4th ending (bad). Yeah, that's a minor spoiler, but I learned it the hard way. |

So it makes it suck less, but is it good?
In your opinion. |

I think it's pretty good. If you've already finished up the game, your best bet is to just watch the endings on youtube. It's obvious synthesis is still the "best" ending, control is good, destroy is bad, refusal is worst...but at the same time I kinda like it the best...it's also the shortest. I was a big fan of Indoc Theory...even though I knew that would not be the truth. Here are the endings from "best" to "worst" Synthesis Control Destroy Refusal |

Interesting... why they didn't include these ending in the first place I'll never know. This would have saved them alot of pain. I originally chose Synthesis, so it is nice to see the "new" ending. I long ago traded in my copy of ME3... so this will save me from having to rent it again :P

I chose the new 4th ending via dialogue as I'd have chosen that if it had been there from the start. I loved it, Shepard's monologue (not shown if you shoot the catalyst) was suitably epic and gave the series an unusual and memorable ending for me. Edit: Refusal dialogue versus just shooting the catalyst. Spoilers obviously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PThzItSAT5c I originally picked the synthesis ending because I saw that as the only way to end the cycle, and I'd say that one is actually worse now. It goes against everything the series have established in so many ways, and is so naive and even juvenile that it just made me roll my eyes. It's pretty much the brony option made specifically for those who wanted a happy fairytale ending.

is it still "the reapers safe everyone from developing an ai that eventually would wipe out the entire galaxy by... wiping out the entire galaxy"? and said galaxy doesn't stand a fighting chance no matter what so it's completely at the whim of the "greater authority" that is the author of this logic?

They can shove their extended cut DLC up their ass for all I care. Nothing can redeem the poor effort of the original.
Pretty funny that in a game advertised to be about choice and consequence, none of your choices throughout the game matter AT ALL in the end. Zero resolution to any of unfinished subplots you're still involved in either. Won't be buying another BioWare game I don't think. Last edited by Sensuki; 06-30-2012 at 06:59 AM. |

I never had a problem with the original ending (minority I know) and this EC makes it even better and some things are a bit clearer now.

Yeah it's still the same. They must preserve their "artistic integrity" you know. So they preserved it by taking a dump on the franchise at the end. |
