So what's everyone's worst game? There's been a few for me that I could point out, but I think the overall worst ever is Rise of Robots.
I got the DOS version and I remember it being on like 14 3.5 floppies and the install took something like 45 minutes. Of course this being a "cutting edge game" graphically (I guess it was pretty) it took much boot disk tweaking to free up the right amount of memory before I could even play too. Once in game things didn't get any better. Glitches galore, crashes, and even when the game did work it was absolutely craptacular. The worst part...and to add insult to injury...a couple months later install disk 7 (or 8 I think) crapped out so when I tried to reinstall it would just fail. Back in those days you could waste a lot of time trying to install games too especially if they failed on some later disk. Anyways I saw this video which brought back some memories...man were they full of shit! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zafl_...layer_embedded

Two Worlds. Played it for like 10 minutes, then threw it in my buddies camp fire that night.

I guess my worst purchase would be X2 on playstation 1. I m not talking about the PC space opera but the Shoot' em up.
I am a HUGE fan of STG genre and the owner of my games store back in this time knew it. There was this game in the super cheap corner of the shop and i asked him what does this game worth. He answered with a smile it was a great game. I was a bit sckeptical due to the horizontal scrolling instead of my beloved vertical one but for less than 5 euros i took it. Enemies bullets are blue on a...blue sky with no logic at all in their attack patterns. Ugly music, shitty gameplay with an OUTRAGEOUS difficulty. I m not that bad at Dodonpachi, Ketsui, and other Cave games. Even some hard ones like Gigawings 2 or Mushihime Sama, i somewhat can handle them. But X2 is just stupid. For the first and only time in my life i tried to find some cheat codes for this STG, thinking i was missing something crucial as i wasn t even able to kill 10% of the enemies. But even with invincibility and max powerups it s the same. You simply can t kill those ufos>< I brought back the game to the store 2 days after and the owner really laughed hard when he saw me with a sad face and this game in my hand ![]() He refund the game and said it was a joke when he said it was a great game ![]() Horrible game but it bring back some good memories from that time. I miss my old little video game store and all the brand new imported games for Dreamcast or arcade systems This shop has now been bought by a huge store franchise and they only sell tasteless blockbusters for only the last consoles :s

Dawn of Magic 2.
Was a blind buy - I and a friend met and we said - lets play something coop, so we went to the store and just picked something. We only had the box text to make a decision, and DoM2 promised to be a lengthy action rpg with great coop fun. It turned out to be utter crap. |

I played the first one and pretty much came away with the same impressions. The concept sounded cool, though, especially with the way they described the magic system.

RPG - check Open world - check Tons of loot - check Mix and match arms and magic - check Good lord that game bored me to tears. Sure it had a big open world, but it wasn't fun to explore like Elder Scrolls, Gothic, or Risen games, it was dull. The loot was boring. The system of slapping two swords together to make a better sword was absolutely ludicrous. And all the towns seemed dull and lifeless, despite being populated by plenty of people. On the bright side, the voice acting and dialogue were so unbelievably atrocious that I actually found it quite comical and got a kick out of it. Quote:

Perfect Assassin about 10 years ago. It's a very obscure and hard to come by game. But trust me, it's for the better, it is truely awful.

Hmm, one just came to mind and it's fairly recent:
Lord of the Rings: War in the North. There were so many problems with the game for many many months. The main problem happened to be SnowBlind's community manager. She categorically denied any particular problems people were having. Having customers submit information that just didn't make sense, for problem solving. In other words, she was beating around the bush. As it turns out, they (Snowblind Studios) pretty well went bankrupt, which explains the lackluster support after the release of the game. She was just in no position to reveal such information, nor was she at any way qualified to help troubleshoot technical difficulties. I'm sure there have been other games, but none which left such a bad taste in my mouth. |

Hmm. SimCity (2013) was truly an awful purchase. I honestly can't think of a game that I've bought thats been more of a broken, shade of it's predecessors. Literally no mechanics at all work properly in that game.
Also, Heroes of Might and Magic VI was an awful purchase as well, since I can't goddamn play it because of crashes that will never be fixed. As for D3, well it was the most disappointing game I ever bought (simcity comes close though) But it was definitely NOT the most awful. |
