not really a big fan of remixes, more of an old school music fan, early 90's and before, before music went downhill fast (IMO)

I prefer original work as well but thought that these two were especially good.

I agree with your other opinion as well. You and I are nearly the same age, so this doesn't surprise me much.

Is this about right?

That was hilarious!

@matthewfarmery:

"A-Ha (another great band, and their offical video for take on me is bloody awesome, (mostly sketches with some live action,) but who ever did the sketches was real talented

just to name but a few bands / artists that had REAL talent, hardly anyone these days in my book comes even remotely close to those said mentioned bands / artists

to me, music went downhill the during the 90's, when music changed, and you had pop wannables"

I fully agree!

I miss the old bands, and the old school music, people playing intruments (which you don't really see now) and there been a lot of cases where autotune has been used

I also feel X factor (UK) pop idol (UK and US) Brintain got talent and other reality TV singing shows are to blame, we are now seeing in the UK, yet another X factor, and I wish they would kill it off, interesting thing mind, ITV have replace the judges, Simon Cowell is gone, (but never really liked him at all) and I personally think then they allowed this trash to get high up, things really did take a worying turn

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYJV1lEMjdo

yes its that bad, if no one has seen or heard of them, you are lucky, and they really can't sing a note, (or dance) yet they got really far through the competition, then later ITV gave them a contact on ITV2 (never watched it) but saw a series on about them, while flicking through the channels,

I also hate rap with a passion, it iss not singing, and then on top of that, some rap artists go and ruin other great classic songs, (I know some idiot rapper ruined the classic diamonds are forever with his version) but that isn't the end of it. I just feel rap has destroyed music a lot. X factor and the like, don't help matters, especially as standards have slipped, and been slipping for ages, will replacing the judges in X factor really change things? no, as the damage has been done, those two idiots above clearly shows that X factor is a popularity contest rather then a talent contest. Replacing the judges won't help matters, as its just going to open the flood gates for more hopefuls that can't sing a note, but everyone else, (friends and family) will persuade them otherwise.

while Amy Winehouse had a good voice, and some of her music was good, its a real shame, she went onto drugs and destroyed our looks, and in the end voice too, as she was too drunk to sing at most concerts, shame really.

but from todays music, I feel only a tiny amount of singers / writers are decent,

but I prefer bands like

Human league (great band and made some great songs)
Bangles, (classic all girl band) (forget the spice girls)
Bananarama (another great band with many memorble songs to their name
Kate Bush, (great singer and made her own songs)
A-Ha (another great band, and their offical video for take on me is bloody awesome, (mostly sketches with some live action,) but who ever did the sketches was real talented

just to name but a few bands / artists that had REAL talent, hardly anyone these days in my book comes even remotely close to those said mentioned bands / artists

to me, music went downhill the during the 90's, when music changed, and you had pop wannables like Britney Spears (who I don't rate and also has had trouble with drink)

its a real shame, that is all Im saying, music has changed, and for the worst, I don't really listen to music all that often, hardly anything worth listening too
