Hello there Guys 'n Girls!

I'm 20 Years Old and working as an System Integrator for Siemens in Germany.

I'm following Grim Dawn since 2010 and right now pledged on Kickstarter! (50$ Digital Deluxe Edition)

I loved to play Titan Quest (and still playing some time) since release. Stuck over 1500h of Gameplay, Modding and Testing (such as Manastream Mod) in this awesome game.

I'm also a Moderator in one of the two biggest Titan Quest Forums from Germany (tq.gamona.de). Maybe some german TQ Players here will know me.

I'm proud to help Crate out and can't wait for the Alpha-Release!

(and also i'm sorry for my bad English, completed School 5 Years ago...)

This may have already been brought up, but if there is a relatively easy way to implement an option for ALL damage being shown, and not just crits like in TQ, I would be very happy. This is one of the features I loved about Torchlight, and it was always very difficult I remember in TQ to determine just how much damage you were actually doing after resistances and armor were applied. Even when you got a critical, it wasn't accurate, because the number you saw was almost always reduced greatly by the enemy's defenses . Seeing as how they already had an option in TQ for displaying crits, I wouldn't imagine it would be too impossible to implement an option for displaying the actual amount of health the monster you hit lost in GD. Then again, I'm not a programmer, but it would be very nice to get a little certainty instead of having to use third-party mods to figure out something that's already being calculated in the background by default.

Monster Death Animations

I would like to talk a bit about monster death animations, something that adds a sense of accomplishment to defeating a foe. I am currently replayed D1 (awesome example of using sight and sound to give you the feeling of power). I realized that they did an outstanding job in that regard. Animation and sound effects really underline the act of defeating a monster really well.

So to start this of I will describe an observation I made with the GD videos and would like everyone to join in with other things they did or did not like.

So watching the videos I really enjoyed how you are able to fling enemies across the screen. This gives a nice feeling of the power of an attack.

One thing I felt was kind of unsatisfying was the physics of the flying orb monsters (sorry, don't know what they are called). They seem to behave like a rigid object, like a ball or a rock. I would have assumed that this kind of creature would be soft and maybe even wet, so it should rather drop like a bag of flour without rolling around after hitting the ground. I would expect a wet thud and then no further motion.

I wonder, how hard is it to merge existing animations in order to do that? Currently you have dual wielding guns and you have normal swords. Can it be done?

It would be nice if crafting would provide a way to change the look of an item without changing the stats, so you can modify your various armor parts to match each other better, or, in general, to make your character look more to your liking.

Guess this wouldn't make sense for unique items (blue/purple), since they are supposed to be unique also in terms of visuals, but for yellows and greens it would be very nice.

What do you think? Do you care about what your toons look like, or are the stats all that matters for you?

Considering that about half the threads in this section are about inventory woes, it's clear that it isn't just me that thoroughly dislikes the way aRPGs handle this.

Now those folks at Arenanet have some really neat features for Guild Wars 2:

- Anywhere you are you just click on a sellable item and put it straight onto the in game market - no portalling back to town and faffing with your stash or visiting an auction house.

- any "collectible" item you have in your inventory just right click on it and add it to a special page in your stash for that type of collectible, anywhere you are in the world.

Inventory management is not fun - just lose it please :).

Am I the only one who can't stand the aRPG convention of having almost everything on the left mouse button?

I particularly hate click to move as I almost always miss the target's hit box and move towards it instead of attacking - arrrggg! Something I turned off in Guild Wars, like instantly.

Since my keyboard & mouse is reconfigurable, I personally only need to be able to bind mouse actions to the keyboard, but ideally it would be good to be able to bind all actions to whatever key or mouse button that one wanted.

Also this one of those agnostic features - if you don't want it, you don't have to use it!

When I was looking at the info page for Grim Dawn on incgamers.com, the information they gave confused me.

Publisher: Deep Silver
Developer: KDV Games
Release date: TBC
Genre Strategy

I can understand that they would list GD as a strategy game if they didn't have an ARPG tag, but I don't get where they got the information for the Publisher and developer sections.

Maybe I'm just confused because I'm busy studying for my German final, but shouldn't the publisher section be left blank and the Developer section say Crate Entertainment?

I'm 33, and software engineer by trade. I've never played Titan Quest, but I've spent a lot of time on Diablo/Diablo 2 back in the day. Arthur's video on Kickstarter and the focus on making a great game for gamers went straight to my heart. Looking forward to the alpha :)
