I've noticed there are a growing number in games these days that are swearing left to right like a sailor.

Games includes company of heroes, bad company 2, and more.

Since GD will be grim and over 18, should the hero swear when being shot at or after killing a boss monster.

What do you guys think?
This could be the first ARPG that swears.

This is my idea for basically the main 'pet class' for Grim Dawn. Most arpg's have pet classes using animals, demons, or other non-human pets...since the later time period (Victorian era) thought it might be cool to have some kind of leader character who commands human soldiers.

The main idea behind the class is you are a Field Marshal, which from my knowledge is the highest rank in the British military at the time. Your primary weapons are your pets, which really are soldiers.

From what we know mankind has been pretty much decimated in Grim Dawn, so there probably isn't any armies to command. Rather this was his position prior to the 'cataclysm' and he uses his command experience to fight back at the invaders and inspire men to take up arms once again.

Just a small note...this is not some pseudo RTS class it will play exactly like any other pet focused class in TQ.

Some skill ideas for the class, I'll probably expand on them later but this should give a basic idea of the class and how it would play:

Passives

Advanced Training - Adds % health and damage to all units summoned by Field Marshal

Command - Increases the number of soldiers Field Marshal can enlist. Also gives small bonus to their stats

Pets/Summons

Enlist - Summons regular soldiers, each take one command point
|
|-Requisition Order - Improves soldiers equipment every 5 levels invested which add armor and defense as well as visible improvements to soldier.
|
|--Grenades - Gives soldiers grenades to use in battle

Rifleman - Summons a rifleman to assist in ranged combat, each take one command point
|
|-Bayonets - Gives units bayonets that does major damage when enemy comes into melee range. Adds + damage and % bleeding.
|
|--Smooth Bore Rifles - Upgrades units rifle to add more damage and faster firing speed

Field Medic - Summons a field medic who adds % health regeneration soldier summoned by the Field Marshal, each takes a command point
|
|-Field Surgery - Heals X amount of health to all units
|
|--Medicine - Improves units resistances by % to all damage types but especially to poison damage

Active Skills

Riposte - Quick attack with sword causes high damage and chance to cause critical

Artillery Strike - Calls in an artillery strike at a specific location more points invested increase blast radius and damage
|
|-Shrapnel - Adds fragments the explosion that cause bleeding damage and slowed movement
|
|--Incendiary Shells - Adds fire damage to explosion and leaves burning patch after initial explosion

Inspire Courage - The Field Marshal throws down the unit's battle standard, inspiring them to fight harder increasing all soldiers damage and granting them damage resistance for a short time

Sally Forth - Causes all units to charge nearby enemies (even ranged ones) and engage in melee combat, also gives small chance that hits can daze enemies

Auras/Buffs

Tactics - Improves attack speed and movement by % of all in aura radius

if there werent statues i killd him within like 5 or 10 sec.
but there were hard bosses 2 like: the final boss (the titan)
and i hoped there were more bosses that were more running and think about tactics how to kill the boss in TQ.:(
i hope there are more hard bosses in GD, and if not, it is still fun;).

I've just about doubled the number of level pieces that were in the world just a month or so ago. Been working with the other guys to fine-tune sounds and animations as well.
Will try to post some screenshots as soon as I finish this area I'm working on now, maybe tonight. ;)

One of the great things MMO's have contributed to the RPG genre are very focused and unique playstyles for different class roles. In most MMORPG's, playing a tank or a healer is just as engaging (in fact, many think more so) as playing a DPS glass even though you are focusing on something entirely different than a damage dealer.

Lacking in most ARPG's (and most RPG's in general, save for MMORPG's) is a well defined system of threat. Giving monsters a threat table would be relatively simple to implement and would add the depth of threat management to combat. This would be fairly trivial during large group beat downs where everything dies before it can inflict threatening damage anyway, but it would add another layer to encounters with heavy-hitting elites or boss fights.

The Defense mastery in Titan Quest was a lot of fun to play, I enjoyed seeing the shield used offensively as much as it was in that build. I would have much appreciated a means by which I could 'taunt' enemies off my allies, since chasing the boss around for five minutes while he stomps after the mage who pulled first makes for a overly long and frustrating encounter.

As a player, I want to be rewarded for sinking attribute and skill points into things that increase my health pool, resistances, and damage mitigation instead of pure DPS stats. Abilities which force enemies to focus on me accomplish this and allow me to fill a unique and useful role in a coop setting.

hi all

i know that some of u will get angered because this has been brought up before probably but i honestly dont have the time to look through all the forums here. I only heard about this development recently and ofcourse im a big diablo fan waiting for D3 to hit the shelves, but who knows how long that will take.

Anyways what i really wanted to say was that i played TQ and i enjoyed it but there coulda been so much more to it. One thing that annoyed me that there was no appearance customizations everyone was just another clone. I actually downloaded a skin pack to make it look a bit better. havent really had the time to do research but will there be more customization to how your character initially looks? Can i make his hair short or long, give him some nice tatoos etc.

Something i also heard about D3 is that they will be introducing dyes to armours etc, i think that would be really cool if u could change the colour of your chainmail or leggings etc.

oh and guns hmmm :( makes ur sword kinda seem pointless unless ur a jedi :P

So we're up to, what, 13 years of development? I could only imagine the nightmare that would be. Does anyone else ever wonder how games that are in development that long are created? I'd imagine you'd have to spend time updating the engine and graphics all the time. It would be a royal pain.

Reality Check

First, I want to say hello to everyone. :D

And now for another matter, which I am seriously in need of a reality check.

This morning, something...

First, I want to say hello to everyone. :D

And now for another matter, which I am seriously in need of a reality check.

This morning, something very strange happened, and it is extremely odd, or so I think.
It involves me & my somewhat psycho & extremely insecure girlfriend (although she denies it).
Basically what happened was this...
The previous night before we had an argument, which always happens. I won't say what about, but it is the usual insecure crap.
Anyways, this morning she is talking to me & the conversation takes a strange turn. She starts to ask me if I ever "lie to her", in which case I reply "no."
Here is the weird part...
While she is talking to me I start to notice that her eyes are changing slightly. Its as if her mood is changing from serious to moderate happy (back & forth). I also notice that her pupils are changing. They get bigger & smaller every time she blinks. This starts to freak me out a little, so I focus my attention on just one eye (her left--to my right), and I notice that here eyes are systematically going from right to left at a normal pace. left, right, left, right, left, right, ....etc.
Now while I am watching her left eye her gaze is going back & forth (left to right) at a normal pace, I find myself fixated at her stare again, and once again I notice that her gaze appears as if it is changing from a serious stare to a slight smile stare. All the while her eyes continue to rhythmatically go from right to left, and it appeared as if her pupils were going from small to large every time she blinked.
All this happened within a span of maybe a couple of minutes.

I then began to freak out a bit, as it occured to me that she was trying to hypnotize me or something.
Now for a little back-ground on my GF, she is very much a control freak. She would deny it, but she clearly is. She is also very insecure, and is emotionally abusive. I try to end it with this woman on more than one occasion and she turns into this weak & crying person that is "sorry" & won't be mean & abusive any more, but later on all that gets thrown out the window & she becomes her controlling self again.
She has taken many courses in college regarding psycology, and I suspect she may have more than one personality.

What I am not sure of is, was she trying to hypnotize me in an attempt to control me (which is a scary thought), or was I being paranoid and its me that is going crazy.....or could it be something else entirely???

This episode really has me freaked out. I know this isn't really the place to discuss such things, but I have no friends, and I figure complete strangers will be more honest. Plus I think just about everyone on this board is extremely smart, and could help...even if that means setting me straight (I'm imagining it), or verifying what I believe, which is that I need to get as far away from this woman as possible.

One problem of pretty much all loot em ups is the necessity to keep that "show loot" button on all time. Further problems are loot clutter, where you can't find loot you're interested in because of all the junk lying around.

TQ did reduce the equipment clutter by adding a filter. I think an improved filter would work better; one that allows you to filter in uniques/rares/salt/iron/relics/whatever you want. Also, one that allows you to filter for weapons above a certain value. Yellow and green weapons in TQ could be interesting, but only if they had certain affixes. I think the best way to filter out the better lower tier weapons is by allowing the player to set the minimum amount of currency a weapon is worth. The higher the currency, the better the weapon.

One thing I'm more concerned about though, is the necessity to constantly press down that "show loot" button. What I think would work better is, in addition to the current system, a button that shows all (filtered) loot, but if you want to pick it up you'd still have to press the "show loot" button. Since there's not that much loot to go around after the advanced filtering, your screen wouldn't be cluttered with mediocre loot. Instead, you'd see everything interesting without the need to press a "show loot" button. Ofcourse, if you don't want to use it you should be able to switch it on/off by pressing on the corresponding button.

So I bought Neverwinter Nights Diamond years back and enjoyed it alot...but I uninstalled it many years ago. Since that time the kids got into the manual and destroyed one single page...but that page happened to be the back cover, which of course had all the CD keys on it lol.

Anyways I've been wanting to replay these games for a while but never could due to not having my keys. Well this morning some old bong resin and beer hops residue must of cleared from my brain because I remembered I activated my game on the community site. I did the password reset (didn't remember my account) and after a few tries finally found the right account...and...

My serial keys were there!!!!

:D

Hope everyone had a nice long labor day weekend!

*edit*

Damn kids destroying all my stuff! Spilling food, drawing on my walls, staining my couch, destroying my game manuals! Arghhh!
