No it's not as bad as it sounds, however the Evil Chris Priestly has posted notification that all the currently active bioware forums (NWN1 and 2, BGI and II, KotOR etc) are to be all moved to the social site and the forums closed as of Monday July 19.

I can see the logic but I can't say I'm overjoyed by the news as I really don't care for the social network site that much.

So I guess it really is true the Bioware I've known for the past ten years or so is gone, just another part of the Evil Alliance, er I mean Electronic Arts.

Oh well that's life I suppose.

Bio are moving all their game forums to the social network site, that's all. Can't say I'm best pleased about it.

*Shrugs* I never liked Bioware. *Hides*

But it is a sad day when a game developer is eroded of its independence...

They did this for Mass Effect's forums when Mass Effect 2 came out. I can't say I noticed a big difference. I don't hang around at their forums anywat. The few times I've visited there the boards were filled with nonsense posts. I just don't have the time to sort through that sort of mess. Plus, there are plenty of other forums to hang out at if the mood strikes.

As for Bioware in general... well at this point I'm still a bit disappointed in Mass Effect 2. I preordered the digital deluxe edition and got all the extras, even got my friend to acquire a EB Games code for me for the extra armor/weapon, and in the end I played through it once and I have no desire to ever play it again. I played Mass Effect 1 three times and expected the same from ME2, so I felt letdown. I used a mod to try out all the different classes and they all felt very much the same to me in ME2. Anyway, I disliked several things about it, so anything from Bioware is no longer an instant buy for me.

In the same boat as you...I really haven't liked anything they made since NWN. They tend to be more like RPG soap operas and skimp on the depth of other mechanics :p

Mass Effect 1 had some very promising mechanics, I thought. but I was upset with just how many of them were removed for the second in favor of it feeling more like a shooter. I saw one review that said it best, They don't have the resources to match the BIG shooters with an ARPG/shooter hybrid and they hurt themselves by leaving both crowds rather unimpressed by trying. (don't ask where, I can't remember breakfast, much less THAT far back).

And this is coming from a guy who fired up ME1 just to have a save to import for ME2. I've played ME1 half a dozen times, easy. But I think I only slogged through ME2 twice. And the second time was a real struggle to stay interested. It's on a shelf collecting dust now, but I may just dust off the first one again.
