Since most games that have a projectile character of sorts utilises the shift button to allow fire and hold ground, well I got thinking. The shift button is probably going to get used the same way in this game too right? If that's the case then isn't the shift key going to waste on non-projectile characters. Couldn't it be useful for melee characters too. Could it not be used to charging, stunning, or leaping at an enemy thus giving melee characters some variety of gameplay other than just click'd'click click.

Maybe someone else could think up some better use for the shift key but the point is that the shift key generally goes to waste on melee characters and could really make a difference to the whole game. My 2.51 cents (tax deductible of course).

edit: Gory finishing moves come to mind. Am I pushing it?

I'm not sure about special moves on the shift key. Personally, I use shift and attack in TQ:IT even with melee, as it means your character doesn't go scurrying off if you just miss clicking on your intended target, and once in combat they automatically attack the next monster after killing one as long as the mouse button is held down when surrounded by bad guys. I'd rather they kept this than added some death move or extra attack (that's what skills are for, right?)

I actually use the shift key all the time when playing a melee character in Titan Quest. When more than one enemy in range it saves me clicking on each individual enemy.
i.e.
When more than one enemy is in range:
step 1) hold shift and click on an in-range enemy.
step 2) when that enemy dies, keep holding down shift and the mouse button, and move the mouse cursor over the next in range enemy and your character will start attacking it.
step 3) repeat step 2 untill all in range enemies are dead.
step 4) find more enemies. :D

So if the shift key gets used for somthing else I would have to click on every single enemy! (I'm too lazy to do that. In fact It would be great if I could just stare at a monster in a certain way, causing it to explode...)

The only problem I've found is when the enemy I'm attacking retreats/runs away, my charater is left behind swinging his sword at the far away enemy, while there are still other monsters right next to him.
This problem would be solved if your character would stop targeting an out of range enemy, and start attacking the next in-range enemy under the mouse cursor (only) when holding shift.

As for charging, stunning, leaping and finishing moves, I use skill abilities with the right mouse button, or the number keys for things like that.

That's just my playing style, and I might be the only person on earth who plays like that. I'd be interested to see if others use the shift key with melee characters. (Edit: looks like while i was typing Steerpike said pretty much the same thing but with less words, amazing!)
