Probably already been said but my computer won't be up graded till next year and all I've currently got is an asus eeepc. So all I play is D2 - LOD. Been playing it constantly since patch 1.11b although I did play it pre-expansion too. I know an awful lot about it, played a tonne of chars. These days it just single player with a bit of LAN.

I'm a heavy duty rune collector and have almost all the best gear in the game. Looking forward to the 1.14 patch that's been said to be released at the end of this year. Played the brother laz's mod for it quite a bit a couple of years ago.

Finally I like the way D2's monster's carry so many varieties. I especially like fighting super unique and champion type monsters. I like to see the immunities monster's carry and finding a way around them. Also the way you can make character builds out of items is a facet of the game that keeps you wanting more.

Not officially, but some people have looked into it:-

Yeah I know there is a mod for it, but that mod also gets you tossed out of b.net and I heard Blizz was going to be releasing widescreen support in their latest update.

Yeah the 1.13 patch gave us widescreen support as far as adding in black bars. You don't get a larger resolution (800x600 max) unfortunately.

on my pc (vista 64) I go to my nvidia control panel

I have 3 options
1) 3D Settings
2) Display
3) Video

I choose 2) Display
under that I have a choice called "Adjust desktop size and position"
under that I have 4 options

I select the one named "Use my display's built in scaling"

that makes D2 run full screen, not windowed, no black bars
my screen resolution is 1440 x 900
of course the game isn't really running at that resolution,
everythig is just scaled to fit the full screen, but it looks fine

I used that too but I use the don't stretch option. The result is no windowed, with black bars but it play at native diablo resolution. I like play older games at native and optimum resolution so that the game won't lose quality because of stretch. Similar with Starcraft and some other games like Majesty 1.

Do you still play D2 alexei? Who here currently has D2 installed and plays it? Are we single players or online also? I'm strictly single player what with atma and runeword mod.

I have it installed but I rarely play it...it's just too old and I have been through it a few dozen times as well.

Exactly.

I have nothing against old games, I am an avid fan of DOSBox and routinely play my old favorites, but Diablo 2 has not aged well and there is just no spark or joy when playing as I completely and utterly burnt myself out on that game many years ago.

Oddly enough I can go back and play Diablo 1 no problem, and I still do from time to time just not the sequel.

You can also do that in your monitors settings. Some games it doesn't look too bad but no one likes a chubby Sorceress.

I play MXL, 1.f9 atm.

Well, that's a lie. I play it occasionally. Am waiting for the newest patch to come out from Herr Laz. Then I'll probably play on r.ealm, something like D2M.

I actually only play mods from LOD anymore, and would not otherwise.

I'm looking to play another game with a group, but the group I started playing DS2 with kind of went AWOL.

Anyways,

I'd play MP D2LOD mods (mostly MXL) with anyone here if they were so interested.

Cheers,

Malph

it looks perfect on my monitor
no stretching or squishing at all
everythig looks exactly the way it looks normally, only full screen
I searched through the monitor seetings, display settings and the personalize menu on vista, I can't find the "Use my display's built in scaling" option anywhere

Yeah, it is a pain starting from scratch in D2. That's where blizzard went wrong having those 1 month cap on account usage. Its little surprise that the single player element has been catching up in popularity. Although it's become a very different game since the introduction of patch 1.10 some years back with the introduction of synergies. That really extended the life expectancy of the game. That and the introduction of oskills.

Who knew that 1.08 / 1.09 would change so much?

There's another mod called Blackened ver.b4 coming out (soon I hope) that is quite a change from the norm in D2LOD. Waiting for it, but with precious little news about it... eh.

Sorry man! I enjoyed DS2 when we got those few games going but it really royally pissed me off with loosing my progress. I actually started by myself a bit as well to catch up to you but it didn't save my progress again. I tried saving to only one save file, and making sure I saved but still lost like 5 levels.

If the game does that to you, remove your saves, all of them and start over in single player.

Then import to multiplayer.

Doubtful, though, that the game holds much for you any longer.

Better luck next time, I suppose.

I love starting from scratch every once in a while. I do it a couple of times a year..heh

Finished the last run like a month ago. Mostly consists of creating 2-3 chars and killing the 3 ubers to get the charm and then it's not much else to do so I let it rest for a few months.

I mostly blame the Necromancer for this madness, running around with a bunch of skeletons is something that I've not seen in any other game.

The Necromancer can really hardcore in revive, im happy when the skelleton friend for you fight. :)
Most fun is the Multiplayer, but the cheating take the fun.

For all D2 in memory.
