So, are the forum ranks the standard forum ranks or did you guys(crate) set them?

They're kinda boring. :)

I don't really care for titles at all, I was just wondering cause I had seen a few already and they seemed strange. Petitioner, Seeker, Speaker... etc. I figured they'd have to do with the game itself, although seeing as I haven't played it yet, that's hard to say.,

Hope they aren't related to the game, i don't want to play a Petitioner class. ;)

Having owned, managed, and moderated several forums myself as well as being a member of a couple hundred more (okay, almost ;)) I knew immediately you guys created the rank titles. I do want to add that I think they're quite creative. Descriptive and distinct. :)

The current titles are, imo, fine. You don't want anything flashy to attract attention-whores and spammers alike.

Would be nice to have our pre-order titles on the forum for bragging rights. :)

A preorder title/icon would be very cool.

Hell of a great idea so we can all see if the poster is putting his money where his mouth is or just blowing hot air.

I am also in support of this idea, but I would think that it would be just a little graphic to one side of the title. I am fine with the way that the titles are set up now, with possibly a change to reflect the theme of the game like there was on the TQ.net forums (i.e. Telkine, Olympian, etc.). The only problem that I see that this may cause is that for those that will be in the Alpha and Beta testing, the non-testers would probably be constantly hounding the testers for info and screen shots of the game before release. So, maybe the pre-order status member graphic/title should wait until just before release for that reason.

I'm not in support of that idea, at least not before the game's released. I'm afraid it'd cause a form of elitism and split up the community.

I'm fine with a preorder icon, I'd just prefer it not be split up into the different kinds of preorder.

I can see your point, but many forums have a "Supporting Member" status or icon below their avatar or title. It doesn't seem to cause any drama or divide their communities. I think we can all agree that we're ALL here to Support Crate Entertainment and their progress with Grim Dawn. Whether that lends in financial support, social support, moral support, etc is not exclusive one way or another. In fact, I honestly think it would be even more encouraging to those that join or post and see it among those who have contributed and will be inspired to stand behind Crate Entertainment and Grim Dawn.

That right there is exactly why it will do more harm than good.

not all support has to be financial, people can contribute with ideas in forums or just spreading the word to others, so not really for adding bits to say what pack you have preordered or donations made.
have preordered the legendary pack cause i was in a position to be able to but i dont really need that to be added to every post

I think the good outweighs any bad. As FlawleZ mentioned, most any forum with a donation option has some kind of recognition.

As more and more posters have icons, it may satisfy those on the fence about early support for the game that it is safe to donate/preorder. After all, there is no guarantee that Grim Dawn will be done (I'm sure it will be that's not assured).

The bad is that it may cause elitism (as Void_Null pointed out already seems to be somewhat apparant in this thread) and it may cause the community to split up.

The good is; people might donate faster? Not sure if that's the case, but imo, that's a bad point as well as it puts pressure on donating. If people want to donate, fine - but don't let them feel like second-rank forummers if they don't.
You'll get mentioned in some credit list and you know for yourself you helped the producers of the game out. There's even a group for people who donated. What's the point in letting everyone know that you're a donator on every forum post as well?
And that most forums have it is not an argument.

A bit off topic, but how is the credits thing going to work? Do they get our name from the Credit Card purchase or something?

Regarding people getting a little icon by their name if they donated...I don't think it's a bad idea...I don't really care either way though.

I'm fine with the current rank. It doesn't show much of rank and doesn't show much specialties toward anyone or neither it could lead to show-off spammer. Our community is to support the dev cause so we should stand together. Elitism might separate the community and limit the communication.

And people, who still doesn't make the contribution doesn't mean they blowing hot air. There are people who still collecting funds for GD. There are also people who at least want to see some media before doing that.

Cheers!

Elitism is healthy.

Tragically atm I cannot preorder the game, so I'm against this. When you do get it up and running again I'll be for it.
