A few users have requested this, a few have made passionate appeals to either not allow them or keep them very small. I wanted to see how people weighed in.

I am a believer in the Ars Technica school on signatures.
IE: That they are unnecessary clutter, and no witty comment of famous quote is that important that it needs to be on every post an individual makes.

I voted for small, me thinks it will bring some personality to the forum.

I believe some quotes are pretty fun to have on the signature, but on a side note, it does get rather repetitive.

Wasted space that clutter up the forum and are invariably packed with misattributed quotes, anime characters, and third-rate photoshops. Then repeated, ad nauseum.
The forum's better off without them. Avatars are enough.

I also voted for small. It does add some personality, but can also become quite obtrusive (had to limit them on tq.net because of this).
Also, besides size, probably remove coloring, fontsize (perhaps set default to 1), bold/italic/underlined, pictures, etc...
Just an italic gray signature and only allow people to put a link in them.
Otherwise, you'll get stuff like this in signatures;

EDIT: On second thought, I have no real problems if they keep disabled. Makes the place a lot tidier :)

It doesn't matter too much to me, they neither help nor hurt a forum.

Hm, on third thought, why not add them (only non-obtrusive ones)?
If people don't like signatures (or avatars for that matter), they can be disabled in the User CP...

I'm in for either small/tiny ones, or none. I've not had a signature for years, and if I did get one, I'd probably make one of those skinny sliver ones.(the one that is like 10x200 pixels.)

I completely agree with the school of thought that a small line of text isn't important enough to be in every post an individual makes. We have avatars and names for identification.

Awesome! Didn't know that, will have to go rooting around the control panel.

I like small signatures...and once alpha/beta kicks off they actually become useful as well if people want to put their specs in there.
And like already mentioned, those who don't like to see signatures can disable them. It's a win-win scenario for everyone.

I am the only one so far to vote: "Omg yes!1 I can I haz them?!". Mainly for the reasons that have already been stated by others.

Also, many times the signature gets used for something constructive, like linking to the forum rules, useful threads on commonly asked questions, or even a youtube video of gameplay. There have been many times where I've realized that I didn't even need to post a question, because someone already had it anwered via a link in their sig.
Why not just limit the size of the text that can be used, Make it no more than 3 lines, and disable the use of images in the sigs? Then there won't be anything too obtrusive, and usedful information can still be shared.

That doesn't sound bad. Small sigs aren't bad. Unfortunately, for every useful one there's like 40 that are 200x300 WHICH NARUTO CHARACTER ARE YOU??!!?! and oversized lists of every character the player has ever played in the game.

I'm wondering if you have a problem with people having signatures if you can just turn them off?

I've gotta admit, I am dying to know which Naruto character you are!

As long as they can be disabled by whoever doesn't want to see them, i'm all for it. :) That's a solution that adds personality and color to those who desire it while keeping those who don't happy too.

So, itīs allowed using a signature, yes?? because I see noone use them (or I canīt see them), but in my control pannel I can set a signature without problem.

What is Naruto?
I think that some fonts, sizes, and colors should be available and small pictures.

Well, no. Your signatures were quite a pain on tq.net and I'm really not waiting for a repetition of that..

Small signatures with a low count of allotted letters I see no problem with. I've gotten annoyed by some big unnecessary signatures before, but what would be better yet is to allow users the ability to disable viewing signatures from other posters individually.

Yes, I think it's been said several times in this thread that it's already possible to do so..

As they can be disabled, I ultimately see no harm done in this. Though a forum without signatures looks a lot more clean and, well, mature? Professional? Ah well, do as you must, I'll disable them anyway!

I think it depends on the signature. A reasonable signature comes from a reasonable person, doesn't it?

True enough, and I've little doubt that the forum as it is would have any overtly lavish individuals. Yet we vary with our levels of reason and as Grim Dawn hopefully garners attention, the user base would naturally grow. But then I guess we can worry about that in the future. :D

I mean, I had an absurdly large one because I found the idea of the subject of the signature ridiculous. But hey, I find the signatures with information in them that make sense.
But yeah, signatures, eh. Give people the option to turn em off, so eh?
