In TQ with the areas with long grass and wheat/grain fields when you character or an enemy walked through them the grass parted and moved about. I thought this was a nice touch and wondered if it would take much to add to it.
Having the long grass and grain fields etc being effected by attacks and elemental spell effects as well.
example. with a slashing weapon equipped attacks would cut the grass making it shorter, fireballs and such would burn and blacken the area and possibly keep burning and spread, and cold effects could snap freeze the grass making it break and shatter when attacked or walked through.

I'm sure the original "move through grass" feature is still implemented, they included an area with wheat fields (see killing fields pictures). If the grass didn't move, that would be silly.
Cutting grass, eh. I don't care for it, and IMO, it would be a bit too much work for what it's worth. Maybe fire off grass particles when they come into contact with a sword, but cutting the grass (and shrinking it) seems a bit much. Not enough pay off for a visual effect that probably no one would notice.
Burning the grass or blackening it, ok. That would be cool. I saw a screenie where I thought they had this effect, but I dunno. I hope for deformations or at least decals.

Have to admit those ideas would be awesome, but the devs have made it pretty clear that they've little time for such luxuries.

Sure, burning fields would add up but then you should be able to burn trees and houses too. In my opinion destructible environment is something you either do pretty much all the way or not at all. Of course quest-specific destructables are another matter.
The moving grass in TQ was/is nice though, always liked it. Hope it makes its way here. :)

I can hear my graphics card screaming "noooo"... But yeah that would be cool, as long as your computer can handle little details like that, considering how good the grass looks.

The moving grass was probably one of my favorite environmental features when playing TQ.
Some wind blowing effects combined with sound to create that sea wave effect would be pretty badass if they had to the time to throw it in and spice up environments with some weather conditions.

Yeah how many people are working on the game? i know it's like super indie and all the devs have day jobs. But i can see how this isn't a necessity for a good game.

@ASYLUM101
thinking on it, i agree with the cutting of the grass.. not enough bang for your buck. and as you say many people may not even notice it.
Burning would be neat but if the grass shows up in a TQ or similar form i would be a happy man.

I was told by Asylum that there are 7 people working on it .

I loved the "move through grass" feature in TQ; very satisfying.
Scorched grass, trees, buildings, etc., would be great, but could get complicated past fire effects. Lightning probably would not be too bad - scorch marks instead of blast areas - but what about ice attacks; would they rime whatever they hit? Would poison wither plants? Or, what about a squall-like effect; would the grass get flattened in the squall area? Actually, I like that idea; I could go around making crop circles :-)
Each type of attack would need it own effect, and would interact with certain things and not others, in addition to many other things I am sure I have missed. It would be great to see, but with the amount of work it seems this would take I am not optimistic.
It would be great to be pleasantly surprised, though.
burning grass is a good idea
how about having the grass leave trails where you had walked through before, I mean we already leave foot prints.
