One of the things that really made TQ enjoyable was boss fights.
Will we see this in Grim?
Something like zelda, where each boss has a weakness or pattern that the player will eventually figure out after a few runs. What I don't like are bosses with no ai with a giant hitbox.

I'm hoping yes. I'm really hoping for harder boss fights than TQ. Bosses were, for the most part, really easy in TQ. Typhon the first time 'round was insane, same for Hades if you don't dodge his ball of death or sweep of death. But once you figure that out, it's easy. I'm hoping for bosses with several skills like those that we feared from our bosses, but required strategies to avoid, etc. I don't want like 2 hour battles, maybe 5- 10 minute battles I'll be fine with. So long as they're fun and entertaining.(please, don't do like a final boss from legend of dragoon..... 2 hours for a boss fight is ridiculous.)

Completely agree with asylum. The first time around for Typhon you'd just freak out, guzzle potions and die a bunch. After that, you could figure out a comfortable and easy pattern/strategy to bring him down quite easily. This went for most bosses in TQ. The boss should require your full concentration, a slip up and your toast..but the fight shouldn't go for too long.

I definitely favor skilled bosses over sluggish meat-bags with ridiculous HP. Toxeus is a little too nasty to be a normal boss but he's a good example, for those who've encountered him, of a very challenging enemy without a lot of HP. I agree with pretty much everything said in the posts above.

I like that boss fights should require a little more skill then usual, but what I would like most is for my character to have a range of skills he could employ to take down said boss.
I don't very much like simply mashing 1 or 2 buttons like in Diablo 2, however, having a mixture of abilities, both passive and active, that will help me take down a boss would be pretty fun.
Something like 6-8 active abilities, and 4-7 passive abilities would be awesome! I'd have my situation passives, and my situational active abilities. My passive abilities I don't have to worry much about, they could be things like buffs, and enhancements, or counter-attacks. While my active skills I use constantly depending on the situation.
That's what I call action.

I know i'm nasty.
I agree too, but boss loot should be balanced in relation to the average time it takes to kill that boss. I mean, doing a hundred 10-minute runs that nets you one good pair of gloves is only going to piss you off :) I'd probably be dumb enough to farm like that anyway but that's just me.

You could say that again. On Legendary Toxeus is extremely strong. I loved the secret passage by the way. I hope you guys include bonuses and finds similar to the Secret Passage. And your various Odes and Blurbs easter eggs didn't go unnoticed in TQ either. ;)

Oh yes, please do include easter eggs... i noticed they were frustrating to a lot of people in TQ who wanted SP to drop something else, but i sure loved finding and collecting them. :) I think i have them all vaulted.

Toxeus is the best boss in TQ. But the best standard boss battle is the one in the Giza (the statues, or Minotaur in act1, Chimera act3), where you've actually involved environment with the boss itself. Actually, the best example is Chiron and Cerberus. But you should take it to a higher, more difficult and advanced level.
In GD, I'd like to see environment play a bigger role in the boss fights (and game overall).

"Epic bosses" is what makes most hack&slash games lots of fun, the best examples are of course Titan Quest, Diablo II and Hellgate: London. It must be a tough fight, not a unnecessary long one like most MMORPG's.
Rare and Legendary mobs also help the midgame, even throwing in semi-epic bosses like in TQ.

Lol, bosses in HGL were annoying. For most classes it was shoot, run, shoot, run, shoot run. From the bosses I fought, there really wasn't much strategy required besides that. I always played some sort of gunner, so I don't know how a melee guy would do it, but I never really had any problems in that game, ever. I don't think I ever died either...
Toxeus is a great boss, the only problem I have with him is the reflection. Maybe the next toxeus should have an activated reflection spell, so we can know when to be nice. lol I always hated rushing in and poking him with lethal strike then finding myself at the rebirth.

bosses seem to use the same mechanics in these games. Hit and run alot. would be nice to see some centralized mechanics with a few ways of accomplishing a common goal that would exploit a boss to damage for a bit. Maybe even have unique kill animations for when t heboss kills you or when you kill a boss. Generally it feels like most ideas for boss encounters have been explored throughout the years so everything feels a little redundant.
