I checked this out the other day as a possible co-op game to play with my son. I'm not sure though, I think it may get repetitive a bit too quickly for the price (the price of two copies that is).

EDIT: I had an Amiga 500, but never had Alien Breed.

Thanks for tipping me off to the demo. Just tried it out and for the brief amount of gameplay it offered, it was rather enjoyable. I'll wait for full reviews to see how long it actually is. I saw one post from the dev on youtube saying co-op is around 90 minutes per level with 3 levels to play in that mode. So, it will depend on how good the story is in the single player campaign.

I'm only hoping the co-op isn't like Shadowgrounds co-op.... (same PC co-op? WTF)

LOL, no I don't think so. I saw in the controls something that looked like a push to talk button. I am fairly confident that this game will be using Steam for the co-op.

They put a lot of effort into an intricate 3D objects. Yet after considering everything else, it seems too much.

Moving about seems clumsy and the floor is filled with impediments. The aliens seem poorly animated. The zoom seems too tight and the screens shakes and blurs alot.

It is a fairly short demo, yet they felt the need to remind you, in game, several times that you can buy the game.

Shadowgrounds was better.

I also liked the alien shooter 2 (reloaded) and zombie shooter better than this -- eventhough the engine had its faults (one being limited to low resolutions), simple enemy AI, and that there was less choice than might be initially apparent.

I only played the demo to space siege. It left a better impression than this.

Er... you critique on some silly things. I played the demo and it was fine to me, seemed like a good successor to both SG and AS2. Movement was fine imo, same as the other two games really. Screenshakes and blurs I didn't even notice. Alien animations? Are you serious? People will critique on the most absurd things just to be a critic.

Maybe you should go back to Space Siege or AS2.

The game is ok....as far as the screen shake, you can turn off the vibration in the settings...to get rid of the morion blur, turn off the post processing effects.

From the looks of it, the aliens get better looking later on. As it is, the quality is about the same as in the shadowgrounds series. Really, this is like the Shadowgrounds series but with Space Siege style models.

It looks cool, but if I get any money it will be going to GD.

I thought that for an inexpensive indie title ($15 full price), the quality of the explosions and the ship design was pretty good. Poor alien animations? I guess I was too busy killing them to notice. Also, I turned down the gamma so that the ship was pretty dark. I find keeping these types of games dark intensifies the experience. My main concerns with the full game are whether or not they can keep it interesting and make it last awhile.

The nag messages in the demo were a bit annoying, I'll give you that, but they are also easily clicked through. I've played other games that did that before. The zoom was a bit closer than I would have liked, but I suspect that was done so that the combat was more intense and twitchy.

Zidders, I agree, investing in GD if you haven't already is the best choice. :D Thankfully I've already done that.

am i an ass for saying thes???? money spend on a cheap game? where is the big deal ????

am i rich corse i can easely spend like 200$ a month on games no big deal, i dont drink at all and i dont smoke. so why not use some money on games and have some funn.

i am a cook by work and dont make alot money on that account lol. but 200$ compared to daily life is not mutch in my way of understanding.

SRY for saying so and by the way i live in denmark paying 52% tax lol

*EDIT* thx for telling me about shadowgrounds and space siege!!! gona try them out as soon i land in denmark 17 june :-)

$200 a month on games? Yeah, that'd be nice but family and home matters come first. I guess compared to me you are rich, lol. I suppose if I were a single guy I'd be pretty well off.

I have one income paying for a house, utilities, food, upkeep, etc. for a family of four. We don't eat out constantly or spend money frivolously. I still don't have a spare $200 a month for games. If I did, I'd use it to pay down my medical bills and then use it to save for retirement. Or to replace my 13 year old vehicle. Now I do spend money on games, but I like to make sure I get my money's worth out of my investments. Especially when it comes to PC Gaming (which is all I do now) where there is basically no return/trade-in availability.

Back on topic, this game looks like it may be worthwhile for the price, primarily due to the co-op I can engage in with my son.

Just because a game is a lower price point doesn't mean one should be ok with it being crappy, if it's crappy.

And $200 a month on games? Really? Can you send some of that MY way? I'm living on disability, supporting a house and a mate who can't work while living below poverty level. Games are my escape, only I can only afford to get one or two a YEAR...if i'm lucky lol.

So I have to be REALLY picky...and omg so many 'freetoplay' games SUCK.

As an off topic, Code187, you really sound like someone from the SIF named SaRTY.

On topic however, I'll have to look into this one, thanks for the tip!

Game looks very nice! Just the kind of game I've come to love after playing lots of Zombie Shooter 1 and 2.

Downloaded demo. Took forever to start AFTER downloading? Menu's are annoying and poorly organized. I change a few controls.

Whatever. None of that matters if the game is cool. Start game. Looks pretty. Explosions. I move the mouse. The camera only rotates when I move the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen. I look for the option that changes this. I change one thing. I change another thing. The camera only seems to rotate when I move a freaking cursor to the edge of the screen.

I walk 10 feet and instantly become frustrated at the terrible aiming system. Uninstall. Load up Shadowgrounds Survivor. Have fun.

If anyone knows of an option I missed that allows the controls to not suck (again: see Shadowgrounds) let me know.
