So there's a few type of usages for skills:

Passive - Always active
Buffs/pets - Just need activation (ie press or click hotbar)
Active/target - Assign to left/right mouse button or click hotbar and target

How about on mouse over? The UI would still have the hotbar and left/right boxes for skill assignment, but a new slot would be created that would assign a mouse over skill.

There would be specific on mouse over skills and I think the skills couldn't really be active style skills but certain types would work great for this like Study Prey or maybe some kind of ranged single target stun/slow. Maybe even DOT skills that increase damage the longer you hold over an enemy.

What do you think?

Do you mean that one skill is ALWAYS activated, if you mouse over ANY target? Hotkey Button = Cast at Current Cursor Location (http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=650) tries to get rid of the click - approved. I'm not sure, if this mouse-over automatism is helpful at every opportunity.

It's a different kind of mechanic aimed at a different kind of skill.
