OK, so I'd like to see some old games people still play.
This can be console, pc, whatever.
Wipeout
Pyrotechnica
Magic: Shandalar (and expansions)
Final Fantasy III
Diablo II + LOD
UT2k4 (sigh, instagib loves me)
Legend of Mana
Many old console rpgs, etc.
Still trying to find a copy of:
Out of this World (haven't really tried, to be honest)
Continuum

For me, this was what we played in college during late nights in the comp sci labs:
http://linux.die.net/man/6/phantasia
A fun (at the time) multiplayer terminal game. Pretty easy to get high level and cool loot and then also pretty easy to instantly find yourself dead. Give a try if you have access to linux.

Granted it's a remake and not the original, me and my friends still frequently get into transport tycoon in the form of OTTD (http://www.openttd.org/en/). It's not piracy as most of the content is fan made, but you need certain files from the original game to be able to play it. They are currently working on making open source variants of these too though. When those are done, you'll be able to download and play it with no strings attached.
Sometimes I get an urge to play brainless shooters, and will usually boot up Doom3 or Lost Planet (can't wait for the sequel).
Other than that I find it difficult to sit down and really get into the old classics. Sometimes I'll see a game and think "oh man, I used to love that game!", but when I actually play it I realise it's a game better remembered than replayed. My texas instruments (parsec being my first game, I think) and commodore are on proud display but they haven't been hooked up in about 20 years.
Continuum is still available for download and has a decent playerbase. An updated version (higher resolution, mostly) of Out of this World is for sale on gog.com for $10 - it's actually called "Another World". I'm not sure which regions call it which. If you buy it there you also get some extras like dev diary and a making-of video.

I still occasionally play "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain", & "Project Overkill" (PS1 games). They are good isometric games. B.O. is a game similar to Diablo, whereas P.O. is more of a shooter.

Blood Omen was one of the best games ever made for PS1.
"Please help me kind sir!"
I found contiuum and I'll probably buy Another World from Gog.com, thanks.
It was called Out of this World in the US (Amiga) and Another World US (Other game system); I believe Out of this World was UK versions of the game. Not sure though.
I wonder if the gog.com version is the new remake... cos that game OWNZ.

I play Transport Tycoon (same version as you roros) on occasion...it's a brilliant game.
Other old games I am currently replaying:
Tyrian (again, the OS version though I actually own the game on disk :p )
Actually...that's it lol. Too many great games released recently to go back and play old games.

OMGAH! Another world has an OST you can get from GOG.com?! Why haven't I been to this site before?!
EDIT: One small addition here, is a remade site called Home of the Underdogs. http://www.hotud.org is a great game site which follows (or tries to) download limitations and ownership rights of games and licenses. It's been one of my favourite sites for a while now.
Check it out all who like old games.

So, playing Another world again (thanks for the link).
I'm having a blast. And I finally got to a part where I went "Ahh crap, I can't remember finishing this easily... bugger."
What a great game. Title that EVERYONE should play.

I'm also a big fan of the old games - I actually usually have more old games on my machine than current games...
Weirdly enough I also currently have a number of games already mentioned here - Broken Sword 1 & 2, Arcanum, Baldur's Gate 2, and HALO are currently the ones I'm working through now...

I wish I could say I still play them, but I don't: however, they're games that I think everyone should play through once:
Ultima IV, V, VI, and VII (plus Part 2)
Unfortunately Ultima VII won't run on modern PC's because of their choice to use a custom memory manager that won't work with modern versions of Windows... and to make matters worse, rumor has it the source code for UVII was lost... but if you have a machine that can play it, you should.
All in all one of the best series of RPGs you could play. If you don't mind the late-80's graphics for IV and V and early 90's graphics for VI and VII.

Recently replayed Ultima Underworld, a game that was way ahead of its time (at release obviously).
Also I fire up the original Diablo and Fallout 1/2 games quite often.
Apart from that I'm simply too busy gaming with new games (or lack the time for both the old and new).
I recommend
1. Fragile allegiance - i think best economic+war strategy between asteroids. Master of Orion too boring for me
2. Civilization:alpha centaur. it have awesome background story, first ingame tech redactor (as in Spore)
3. Genewars. Crabomules. Mulocrabs. Flying crabs. Nice atmosphere. (with civilization it will be spore )
4. Ufo: enemy unknown. It's the best game evar forevar :D
Seems i like sci-fi games.

I recently replayed an old SSI game called Stronghold. Back when everyone was making D&D adaptations. You can find this one on http://hotud.org.
UFO is one of the best games I have evAr played.
Another goofy game I played for a bit (more a distraction than anything) was Death Rally, goofy futuristic top down racing game kind of like Super Sprint for the arcade.
One more. Anyone remember Excite Bike? There is a japanese version on the famicom that you could race WITH a friend instead of it just being single player. I'm looking for an emulated copy of that.
Off to look at ebay for old snes cartridges...
Cheers,
Malph

I personally feel Stronghold is one of the most under appreciated games out there.

I haven't played these in some time now, but they are all memorable and innovative games from my past. I miss the innovation that developers user to have. If you're bored some day, I suggest you give them a try.
Shogun - Commodore 64
Odd game that I never quite grasped at the time, but it was one of the first to offer a lot of freedom to the player.
Below the Root - Commodore 64
A game I found quite emotional. Many of the features this game included were decades before their time, honestly. Unique characters, steep consequences for your actions, psychic powers such as telekinesis and mind reading, and beautiful graphics for its time made it a stand out title. Your choice of protagonist was more then just a cosmetic difference. I really enjoyed this game. It was a non-violent game for the most part as well.
Legacy of the Ancients - Commodore 64
Excellent game that I greatly enjoyed. It was probably one of the first games to offer mini-games such as the armor and weapon training and gambling. It's a free roam RPG (like most early RPGs were) and allows you the freedom to explore and complete at your own pace. I also enjoyed the fact that they would remember you if you had robbed the bank and come back, and you'd get attacked right away.
Mail Order Monsters - Commodore 64
Design your own monster, then upgrade it by winning battles with other monsters. Increase it's statistics, with additional strength increasing it's physical size, and add odd mutations such as tentacles which are required to use certain weapons. Stable your monster and start another one, or take it out and battle your friends. It took the Archon style battle system and greatly improved on it. Wow, I am STILL waiting for someone to remake this game.
Maniac Mansion/Zak McCraken and the Alien Mindbenders - Commodore 64
Classic adventure games.
I've skipped the more popular titles such as Ultima IV and the AD&D Gold Box Trilogy.

For those who like play business management, I recommend:
1- Holiday Island - it's abandonware so try it.
2- Railroad tycoon - now improved as open source project by fans, search open railroad tycoon.
3- Locomotion

I'll spare ya'll the entire library... and it is a fairly large one if I do say so myself and just give ya the highlights.
The Fallout Series (1 2 and Tactics)
WH40K Rites of War
WH40K Chaos Gate
Arcanum
The X-com series
Those are the ones I consistently go back to, and yeah, I have a derelict antique for some of them to run on with windows 98. I'm lookin for a copy of the original Metal Gear... the one for NES back in 1986. So many people think Solid was the first... it was just the tech catching up with an incredible designer.

The oldest games I have are Baldur's Gate I and II as well as Icewind Dale I and II.
Though I do recall playing a very fun and simple game on a friend's Amiga 500 I think it was but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. You were the Israeli PM and had to make various choices about the military, the occupied territories, relations with the surrounding countries and so on. Some of the situations that could unfold over the course of a game could be very amusing.
