"The zombie game about humans."

Dead State is an oldschool, turn based, isometric rpg in the vein of Fallout, Planescape, Baldur's Gate, you get the idea. It's a game that focuses on humanity and how it develops under the duress of a zombie apocalypse. What it is not, however, is a game that could be reduced to killing zombies. Brian Mitsoda has worked for Black Isle, Obsidian, and Troika. He is also largely responsible for the awesome characters and writing from, one of my favorite games, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Dead State is now funded but could use more exposure to help DoubleBear Prod. make it as rich as they imagine. Thanks for reading and please spread the word!

Good to hear it has been funded. I will probably back it in the next few days, once I get caught up with the bills..

Yeah,

It's absolutely cool the Kickstarter project made their funding goal (and continues to grow).

I've been anxious to see this game done since they first posted information about it on their webpage.

@Pimpollo

your urls are broken, you need to include the url tags (click on the little world icon with a chain, then add the url in the box)

some forums don't like complex urls and will shorten them, especailly if there are spaces or hashes in the url, I noticed this with a few forum types

but anyway, good to see that the project is funded, I think I might fund the game too

edit

I have pledged to it, so going to be a good game to play, some of the stretch goals look good, hope they get to some of them

This didn't make me interested at all. I think zombie games are becoming old pretty fast, and although this has some fresh ideas, it's just not quite there yet.

I love the zombie apocalypse scenario, and I'm yearning for a game that's good enough for a long time... There just aren't any good zombie games for the PC out there :(

The broken urls is actually the mark of having copy-pasted someone else's post from a different forum. Since the forum shortened the url, he ended up copying...well...yeah, you can see the results yourself. A smart person quotes the post and copy-pastes what's in the quote instead.

Glad the thread introduced some people to the project. Thanks for notifying me about the URLs. Should be fixed now!

It looks like the proj. is going to meet its first stretch goal today.

The Dead State Kickstarter is in its last three days. What it is is an oldschool, isometric, turn-based rpg in the vein of the original Fallout, Bauldur's Gate, and Planescape Torment. I hope you consider helping them out in their final days. Thanks for reading!

I supported the game early on but cancelled a few hours ago. I really don't like it when I support something and they ask for more money. That applies to everything, but I found their updates to be really annoying, they were far too focused on pleading for money instead of telling something new.

yeah I agree with that, I also dont thing their rewards are worth shouting about either, many have kept to the $15 tier, but I feel they really could have done better rewards then trying to ask for more money, I feel the reason people aren't pledging higher is because they not done enough to really satisfy people to pledge more, OK the stretch goals are pretty good and two are unlocked, but the devs really need to show something new. I am still pledging, but I not pledged much, and dont think many of the hier teirs are worth pleding either

so the fault I think is with the devs, not the pledger's (the reason why the project hasn't raised more money from the outset)

I have to agree with the two previous posters that the project has lost my support for being too concentrated on requiring more money/activity from backers without balancing this with more information about the quality of the game as well as improvements to those lower tiers. It does not feel like a co-operative venture in the way that some other KS projects did and consequently have cancelled my pledge.

I like the idea of Dead State, but I don't know... it's a wait and see for me. When it gets made, I'll evaluate and see what they have to offer.

It's surely been exciting to see the project hit the majority of its stretch goals. I didn't even think it would reach 300K but that's almost surely going to happen. I'm really hyped for this game mainly because I know Mitsoda is doing the writing and it's going to play like some of my favorite rpgs (mainly Fallout). I also think that they have been conservative with what they have shown but I can understand their enthusiasm in getting their supporters to get the word out. All in all it's been a great ride and I look forward to there being another rpg in 2013.

well they have raised $332,635, not sure how many failed payments will happen, but they have the animals stretch goal unlocked, but with a few failed payments, the total may drop a bit plus the KS and Amazon fees, still not a bad amount, and I still backed it

new update, they have released a new early WIP combat video

I'm drooling over my keyboard, that looks awesome

looks like the game is shaping up quite nicely

It looks pretty good, but honestly the combat seems very stiff...even by turn-based combat standards.

matthewfarmery

well it is an early alpha afterall, so anything can change, but yeah the combat does look a bit stiff, maybe they will address that, other then that the game has a lot of promise

Turn based strategies shooting from the ground like mushrooms...

I'm not complaining at all. It has been way too long since we had games in that genre. Wildlands 2, Torment, Shadowrun returns...keep 'em coming :D
