are you planning on having guns of any kind? the victorian era (1837-1901?) was beginning to offer greater firepower than ever (claymores, howitzers, gatling guns).

i feel like the addition of guns to torchlight worked, but the T-energy weapons of sacred 2 were out of place. in a game set in the victorian era, it would make sense, though.

Yes there will be guns as you might expect. They'll be standard gunpowder and bullet weapons; no energy guns.

Unless you happen to find the secret time traveling Captain John Heart from Torchwood fame. ;)

To abstruse a reference? :p

Hey, I actually have a homemade potato cannon! That would be a kickass ingame weapon!

It appears that is three votes of confidence for the potato cannon throughout all of the posts so far!

@ ASYLUM101: Do you have any pics or a youtube vid of said cannon?

I'll try to make one for you guys. :) I need to paint it first.

Any color suggestions? No flaming pink or purple though please, lol. I was thinking copper and black.

Sounds great to me, I've always liked that color scheme.

I hope you are going the 'infinite ammo included route' so we don't have to drag around powder kegs and bags of bullets amounting to half the inventory space. :D

Hah, yeah, infinite ammo. I'm thinking of item attachments that take the form of ammo-mods though. Not quite sure exactly how that would work yet though.

I'm kinda hoping for ammo. I dislike games where ammo is needless, it feels wrong. It was decent in TQ, but I was always wondering WHERE the arrows came from...

I on the other hand dislike having to carry around ammo. You have something in your inventory that takes up space, you need to refill it regularly, more going back to base, yeah. This is akin to identify scrolls as it has no fun value at all.

I could imagine though something like an additional weapon boost slot similar to artifacts in TQ which would give some modest boni/effects to weapons, but without the need to refill.

I don't care much for ammo either, but an extra item slot for quivers/satchels/whatever would be cool. Just another piece of equipment to find with bonuses.

I agree with this previous sentences... A rare yellow quiver for more bonus is correct.

I'm pretty much all for more items I can collect. So I think something representative of ammo but which never runs out so you don't have to constantly buy / pick up / manage it could be cool.

I do actually like the concept of ammo in games... for about 30mins... then the tedium of picking up the 99924th quiver of arrows just gets old.

There are a lot of gameplay dynamics that are cool / fun for while but eventually add to the "user-fatigue" of playing the game.

hmm I wonder I have never seen any sling in an arpg. Sling+stone/iron ammo...

MaYBE no a victorian type weapon but I note it...

You guys should make a weapon that has a chance to cast chain lightning or the chance to cast another attack

Actually you can do this quite simply using only the currently developed game capabilities.

Example: Flaming potshot ammo enhancement for guns. Make a bandoleer belt item. Add on a flaming skill enhancement (like Earth Enchantment) through the grant skill mod, add in a cool-down timer, and limited duration and you're done!

Now you have a belt accessory that gives flaming bullets for a short amount of time and is a activated skill on the players toolbar through the item.

Yeah I was thinking this could also be done with the new version of the relic / charm system, which would then allow you to apply it directly to the guns.

I'm really liking this idea of Ammo Mods, it sounds awesome.

Oh I'm so looking forward to play with ranged and how well the gun-play is done. :)
