View Full Version : Realm Explorer
Okay so... I ran across this game on Kickstarter, because I'm a KS junkie...

Basically it is trying to merge the crafting/building aspect of minecraft/terraria, with the look and feel of skyrim. And hopefully a better combat system than any of those. Looks to be pretty cool. Sadly though it is seriously lacking in the funding department. Probably won't make it, but thought I'd give a little shoutout anyway.

Concept sounds great and looks like they have put in some significant work into the game so far. I'm not really the kickstarter type, but I'll certainly keep my eye out on it.
Yeah it does looks like they've been working on it for quite a while. I hope that they will be able to continue working on it if they don't meet their funding goals.
Concepts like this are great to see because we certainly won't be seeing this from a big publisher anytime soon and I really think it would be fun gameplay wise.

Okay that looks very promising. I'll delve a bit more into it later today.

Minecraft and LEGO completely missed the boat when the two met up...I mean talk about "ideas" going right over their heads. The potential for awesome to be had from those two franchises combining could have been astronomical.
Instead we get...specially colored lego blocks??

This actually looks quite cool. But I fear that they probably will not reach the funding goal.
Quite a shame. I'd play it for sure...

I backed it already and I've got pretty much the same notion about the odds. I think what's missing to really draw the Minecraft crowd in is some look at how the players will build and just how free they'll be to express the desire to build.
Minecraft is fun to build in, but creatively, the "tools" available to build with are pretty limited.

I'm hoping they release another video or something regarding construction if it's planned. I see it in pics but not videos, why? I see a video of this guy digging a massive hole - pretty awesome, I used to do this in Red Faction :D
I also see the video of the guy running around in a field with sheep while swinging around his sword and the caption "EXPERIENCE EPIC ADVENTURES". I don't know... that doesn't seem epic to me.
I'm planning on backing it in a few days, going for the lowest tier possible, since 5$ is already packed.

Hi Asylum,
I'm Gabriel from the development team and thanks for pledging. Unfortunately, kickstarter is a platform for securing backers for concepts and ideas and not Steam where a final product is ready when you pledge. We went into this kickstarter with the expectation we could present some cool and unique ideas that we haven't seen in many games and fill a empty space in the sandbox genre and not need a finalized project to secure backers.
We don't have combat coded (but we have animations as seen in the video), we don't have placing building materials coded so we can't showcase that. The video was meant to show what we've done so far to demonstrate weapons, animations, terrain, graphics, music, and the terrain deformation as well as our show our capability to deliver what we've promised.
