I never understood why uniques cannot be enchanted in TQ. I do not find it to be an interesting game play decision at all and find it can actually detract from the fun of the game.
Here's hoping we can enchant all gear in GD.

I think, that the majority of unique TQ items are imba and do not require any charms ... but I agree with you (http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?p=204&highlight=enchantments#post204) that it would be fun. If you miss it that badly in TQ, then you can activate it (http://www.tqdefiler.com/). ;)

Yeah I'm aware of the mod for TQ but that isn't really the point. I'm guessing there is a good chance they may carry over this design to GD and I'm not sure why.
Will GD suffer w/o it, no. Could GD be more fun and interesting with the ability to enchant uniques, I believe yes; not seeing the downside. Leaving it out due to balance issues doesn't really hold any water in what is for all intents and purposes, a single player game.

Uniques weren't unique in TQ. They just had more stats. Not really anything special. In GD there should be more on a unique to make it unique: When equipped stuff, triggered abilities, non-class skills. Something. How about something quest related? Or at least environment related.
If this were the case, then no, I'm not for enchanting unique items.
Regarding balance, if you want to be able to take the game easily with one item, the game loses it's fun. Single player or not. The game should have some endurance.
I think because there were so many class combination choices in TQ that it led to an overabundance of items. This is tough to balance out.
One possibility for me would be using only certain reagents to enchant unique items. Who knows.
